Why a strut?
 

I did a search and didn't find what I am looking for. I was wondering what a strut bar is going to do for me. Will it let me take corners @ higher speeds? I'm not sure of the benefits.

If I were to get one, is Ractve an okay brand for this item. They sure are cheap.

Strutbars help strengthen the chassis. It ties in the top of the shock towers on either the front or rear and will help you in taking corners. It won't allow you to take corners too much faster, but it will make your car more responsive. Most people confuse the strut tower bars with swaybars. Swaybars control the amount of roll that chassis has when going into the turn making it more stable, while allowing you to have better control of the car during a turn.

Your sig says 2002 MP5, so you should already have a front strut bar from the factory (that big red thing under the hood).

Are you wanting one for the rear?

You already have one on your P5, the stock one is MUCH better than the Ractive ones, Ractive has poor fit on the strut tower bar and you will need to fabricate a custom cruise control bracket, and your chassis will be less stiff.

Thanks for the help. I knew that I had one, I was just wondering if the Ractive one was better. Sounds like it isn't though. The reason I was interested is because My nieghbor gave me a ride in her eclipse that her bf moded out. It had some type of strut that or other mod that let us take a turn at like 35 miles per hour. It was soooo smooth. Thanks for the info.:D

try upgrading your rear sway bar. That should give you NOTICEABLE improvement in handling.

do a search on rear sway bar, there are quite a few good choices for the Protege/P5 :)

after the sway bar, you can look into getting Mazdaspeed adjustable struts ($$$, but good stuff :) )
