It's possible that some shops are selling OEM MP3 struts and saying they're Tokico "Blue" HD struts because they look the same. Tokico is supposed to release HD's for our cars this fall, but they are NOT available direct through Tokico yet- I verified it last week (I check often)

When Tokico does release HD's, they will probably be almost the same as the MP3 Tokico struts, but I suspect they will have stiffer valving and a lower list price. Most Tokico HD shocks cost less than the $405 per set Team Support price for the OEM MP3 struts. I hope the Tokico release date is not fiction; unfortunately, they often are

I have the Mazdaspeed struts on my P5, the fronts are Tokicos without a doubt. The backs are KYB, I believe because the adjuster is on the lower side of the strut body insted of the top of the ram like Tokicos. The're lime green insted of blue, but each have adjustable dampening.

My understanding is that Tokico is producing struts for the P5 and only offering them thru Mazda and Mazdaspeed at this time.

Since you are having a hard time finding these struts.

Go to this website and write down the part #.

www.tein.com/ssdamp.html

Choose the new products listing.

You will see the P5 listed on there.
These or JIC should be installed on the Protege's.

Take Care

I followed the link and the catalog says "Coming Soon." However, since your sig says your car has them I assume they're out Where did you get them and how much did you pay?

Carguy-

I will keep you posted when the release date is on the TEIN setup. As for pricing I can't say right now since they are in the 'beta' stages.

Believe me. You will love them. Friends tell me the car rides almost as it did new yet tons more responsive.

We have a accout with TEIN USA.
These are just prototypes.

If you ever are on and see the gentleman from Auto R&D near the S.F. Bay area (California). Last I heard he was supposed to be recieving a shipment of the (JIC) of Japan coilover set.

Cheers,

Jim
