However, as I stated before, G3 Proteges use tapered rear springs that should ONLY be cut if they've got dead coils up top. They should NEVER be cut from the bottom because this will screw up the seat diameter.

Best advice, hang out with muscle car heads and are into backend swaps and pushrod engines. They actually know cars and can teach you a think or two. A dude with a '98 Civic with cut springs can't.

But then they know nothing about cars with technology.
Carburators and pushrods are very different from Programmed Fuel Injection and On Board Diagnostics systems.... To repair a Protege when the electronics go haywire, you practically need to be a computer engineer to get it straightened out.
I argue this subject all the time with guys at work. The old men start going on about their Chargers and Cudas they used to have and talk about how much they tweaked it and knew their engine like the back of their hands. Then I ask them if they can help me figure out why my IAC module might be making my idle rough... their eyes get all glazed over.
I'm not saying that I'm a specialist.... Far from it. But it seems to me that muscle heads don't know much about modern cars.
And Lauren, if you want to know more about cars, just stick around, we'll try and teach you a thing or two... There are alot of guys on this board that are scary they know so much about these things.. Some of them have had their car for over 10 years I think... so this is probably the best way to learn. I know it's helped me alot. That and don't be afraid to get your hands dirty playing under your hood.... Don't try big jobs until you know what you're doing, but the simple stuff is fun to do on your own.
