Wind Split
Improves under-chassis aerodynamics. Wind Split Black Molded Plastic 0000-8Y-C07 $85.00 Sounds like the front splitter. |
I have a question about this. If you install the wind splitter, can you still use the bra? Doe sit fit over the splitter?
Thanks |
If you put a bra over the splitter, the splitter will no longer be useful.
Assuming it does anything in the first place... |
Pics
Anyone have a pic with one of these on the P5?
Thanks! |
that thing is so thin and our car sits too high that it will not do anything but just give you that look.
you need to get something like a DGMotorsports lip spoiler and lower your car before you can get any benefit. |
|
Interesting......
|
i was wondering about that, too. So unless the car is lowered (how low?) it does nothing?
|
Screw the "Undercar Aerodynamics." It looks like it my be pretty good at taking the beating if you pull up to far to a high curb or the cement wheel stops.
Ideas? |
I want it!
|
ordering
it normally about a week to get the splitter in

I swear that with $10 worth of black lexan or plexi I could make that stupid thing in about a half hour.
$85 is outrageous for nothing more than a piece of plastic. Hmmm...maybe I WILL make myself one.... ~HH |

I put it on my car and I noticed at least 10hp... What are you guys talkng about?
|
I think theres one made outta plywood in this months SCC mag.
|
How easy to install?
|
very easy, you'll need a drill, phillips screw driver, and a small wrench I think a 7mm.
It comes w/ dirrections, and mounting hardware. It is very sturdy I'll take a pic of it from underneath! |
|
i put one on my mp5. i got it off ebay for $40+-. i liked the look, i guess.

I'm ordering this from my local dealer but I have not been told a price as yet but probably around the $130 CDN range.
I had planned on getting a custom one done from a friend of mine who runs a plastic manufacturing shop and he said he could make me one for about $100 CDN out of ABS but I think I will stick with the dealer. The real reason I am buying mine is to protect the bottom lip. Our P5 is lowered and I am real careful with curbs and driveway entrances but every so often you miss one. The other thing is that I have to be concerned about the piece lasting through the winter so that it does not crack. In my city it can drop down to -40°C during winter and you know how cold affects plastic. Plus if it is a Mazda part I would assume the warranty would be in effect so if it breaks, it will be replaced. |

If you are handy with fiberglass you can do a full spliter with side "wings" for less than $25.

After my accident, mine got cracked, but it's definitly repareable. Since I'm getting a WW kit instead, I won't need it anymore and I'd be happy to sell it to ya! It's got 1 break and 1 crack, but they're both easily fixed with superglue and you won't even be able to tell. Let me know if you're interested. |
plastic doesnt shrink that much in the cold
it just gets really brittle |
