What have you done to your 3rd Gen today?

I bought the 03.5 MSP **** new; it came with instructions: place it over the shift lever facing the proper direction. Then twist 15 rotations to install.
I wonder if it's not tapped from the factory, but rather taps itself over the lever's threads.
Whatever it is, it works well. Lines up just right with 15 turns; tight enough to prevent rotation during use, but not so tight that you'd be worried about stripping the aluminum.

I have an RX-8 **** on my FD, and when I put it on I was thinking "geez, this takes a lot of turns to tighten down". I wonder if it was the magic number 15 that I had to turn it. heh

I did some workin on the car today. I now have a gasket between my s and j pipe, so one of my two exhaust leaks is gone. The manifold leak is still present (of course.. only until the manifold gets hot enough to seal that crap up).. I think the two leftmost bolts on the manifold are just totally not there. I know the top left one has a sheared off bolt, but I found a bolt sittin on my tool bench today that is definitely one of the new ones I bought for the manifold recently.
That would explain the leak that is there for 23 seconds after startup, and for the first 3-4 minutes of driving.
To get that fully fixed permanently I gotta pull the turbo again and find a way to get that sheared off bolt out.. there's barely anything sticking out of the head at all. I might have to get that worked on or find someone with the tools to do that :P

this is what an exhaust leak sounds like (on my car):

basically, if you hear exhaust noise from under the hood, or smell exhaust smells (i.e. exhaust before it gets through the cat.. smells nasty) under the hood, you probably have a leak somewhere near there. If you rev the car you'll really hear it, and if it's a small leak it'll go away after a few minutes of driving if it's something really close to the engine. a leak out near the muffler will be all the time

So if my exhaust smells like rotten eggs (sulfur like smell) what does that mean?

That was the sound it made when I ran not just open downpipe.. but literally the downpipe was severed only an inch from the turbine outlet, so I literally had no exhaust at all... that's a bit of an extreme exhaust leak though
I just had to drive the 6 hours back to rochester like that. luckily my lower radiator hose didn't burn completely through until I got back
As for the sulphur smell, it could be a plugged cat or it could be low quality fuel (maybe)
