^Agreed, not to mention, how cool would that be :)

I still have my kit and I thought about selling it but I don't need the money and I want to finish tweaking it to the point where I can make some serious numbers and be the only one...then maybe I'll sell it.

ahh.. the WOMP, now THAT was/is cool, got to see it IRL ;)

wanna twincharge my car with it? oh wait I don't have forged internals no dice haha

Roddimus Prime October-14th-2007 11:53 PM

If I were going to do a twincharged car internals are important but no'one really has a fuel system that can support those types of power levels. Juan is probably the best at it now but it's a unique tuning system for both poweradders.

Why not give the WOMP another shot Matty? If you could find trustworthy shops to take care of all your custom work, the kit would definitely sell like crazy.

"Like Crazy" is a tough bet with Protege owners. These are quite a few owners, but most are either really cheap, or don't have that kind of plan for the car.

It's hard to convince someone to spend 3-4k on a kit, when the car is worth 4-5k, and is 5 years old.

Dude, I love that quote, "Only 16 yr old girls require an auto..." can I use that?! Classic!

Actually I have to attribute that to my wife - she was having work done on her 300ZX and the mech needed HER to move the car, 'i can't drive a manual' he whined. So she laid the 16yr old girl bit on him! :pfanndina

True. Sad, but true. To spend that kinda' do-ray-me on car that if it gets totaled won't even cover the mods :nono: (unless you geta policy rider). Far better instead to just save for the next car... (IMHO of course)

I agree with that but you still see a lot of owners spending just as much if not more on turbo kits. I'm positive that at least 40%-50% of those purchases could easily be replaced by a reliable supercharger, because it's a much better alternative for our cars. Just a thought .. that's all.

I would have gone the supercharger route, no doubt. So much simpler (talking about roots supercharger, not one set up like the WOMP).. no dealing with charge piping and clamps that blow off, oil and coolant lines all over the place, etc.

Plus the power delivery is nice (though turbo power delivery is more 'fun' because it comes as a big lump of power :) )

I bet 30% of the poeple who turbo their P5 would rather have supercharged it.. but well --what kind of numbers are we talking about.. maybe 50-75 people that I am in any way aware of have turboed a non-turbo 3rd gen Protege. The numbers are probably drastically less, I can only count 15 or so by name myself.

Maybe three years ago womp could have been something awesome, but it's probably too late at this point :(

Roddimus Prime October-15th-2007 03:57 PM

Yup, too little too late. Besides last I counted i lost about $7k on the process so I'm not real excited about doing much else.

fwiw, I've started collecting parts to do a complete NA package like I had hinted at a few months ago in another thread. I've also started looking into finding a local MX3 GS for playing with but that's not on the forefront right now.
