I regret it everyday, haha!

Do the manual Mazdas have a higher market demand? Because when I bought my car 2 years ago, they were really pushing the auto. I actually decided to take it because they offered it to me at a lower price than the red P5 manual.

I guess the auto has a lower value, or at least a lower demand.

i like my auto except for, when im in sport mode and the shifter doesnt change gears then the engine red lines and chugs and for some reason it doesnt change itself like i was told it should, so i have to yank the shifter really hard to change ...besides those times i like my auto, but Houston is one of the top 10 cities for worst traffic. i still debate on if my next car will be auto or manual just due to half hour of stop and go

The clutch on the Protege is so light.. anyone who says it is too annoying in traffic clearly hasn't driven a manual transmission protege in traffic. even with upgraded clutch stuff it's still totally fine

I'm partial on the automatic. I know for a fact the P5 is a LOT more fun with a manual transmission but I really don't mind the automatic. The tiptronic feature makes it a lot better, cuz it gives you a little more control than normal autos.

The cons:
-a lot slower
-consumer more gas
-not turbo compatible
-higher maintenance

The pros:
-allows for a nice casual drive
-makes it easier for your girlfriend to give you head while driving (you know I'm right ..)
-should raise the value of your car
-it operates via the concept of "black magic" as no one really know how the hell it works so it makes it way cool!!

Alright, back on track. Proof positive that the FS-DE is a relatively torquey motor given the correct tranny

that's about 105+ torques (that's right: torques) right off the bat. Of course, that's with a few mods, but the general shape of the curve shouldn't change a whole lot.

And with an MP3 ecu so that it doesn't look crazy jaggy and generally f-ed up.

The tranny will handle up to 7-8 psi. As long as you stay at or below ~180HP you'll be fine, but anything above that you're asking for trouble. One thing you would really want to do however is install an auxillary tranny cooler to allow for proper cooling caused by the additional stress the turbo is gonna put on it.

Gees I see a future purchase......come here little turbo..lol

I'll swap my 5-speed for your auto but the GF must be part of the deal..

Sure thing man .. she's getting a little high mileage for me anyway. Maintenance is getting to be a pain in the *** too, so have fun

It's great when people can kid around and not take things to seriously. Back to thread.

Just FYI, my supercharger made +60whp and +15wtq on the fs-de. THAT'S how you increase HP without torque.

Ahh yes the supercharger. If only there was a kit like the one you made available for purchase that would definitely be my preference for forced induction.
