Stock rack "attachment" kit?

Was just reading my owners manual and noticed it says that the rack as installed on all US cars is not ready to have stuff strapped on it. The manual says you should contact your dealer for some load attachment kit or something? Anyone have any clue what they are talking about? I haven't seen reference to this anywhere, and was just wondering.

Thanks!

My dealer had no clue when I asked him. My guess is they're referring to some kind of clips or bars for attaching things. I'm still trying to find a good bike carrier that works on the factory rack. Yakima makes something called "mighty mounts" that attach to factory racks, then some of their stuff attaches to these.

It looks like anything that fits on a Subaru rack should fit on our stock rack, but I havent looked closer.
