Thumbs up My worthless opinion

I just got a 2002.5 MP5 with the Sport-Matic so I thought I'd say a little here. I do like the original wheels better, but that's about it. The tranny choice was welcome 'cause like others here I have a wife who doesn't (or rather refuses) to learn to drive a stick, and while I prefer a 5 speed, I'm learning it's nice to have the option if I'm stuck in traffic or driving through a neighborhood with a lot of stop signs to just throw it in D and not have to think about it. On the other hand, I miss that pulls you out of the seat exitement of tearing around a corner with the foot/hand literally feeling the car excitement that a full manual provides. Oh well, if I still wanted the true driving expirience I would have kept my Scirocco. That didn't even have power steering. On a last note, I like the side marker lights and who really gives a damn about cup holders anyway.

Don't have a pic, but the tweeters are mounted on the mirror blanks on the doors. Where the manual mirror adjuster **** would be if they weren't power mirrors. The sound system really sounds nice in my opinion.

I also like the new wheels, and the side markers while kinda cluttering up the side of the car a little really make practical sense and think it helps during lane changes. I like the new cupholders alot as well since I can set my cell phone in there without having to have the lip flipped up. I like the new shiftknob, but don't know if I like it much better than the old one. Might eventually switch to an aluminum ball shifter.

Well all I can say to this first page of posts about those not liking the side-markers-typical Americans. IMHO sidemarkers not only look better, they help your cars visibility while turning at an intersection at night.

As to the guy who said hed like to have the manu-matic tranny because he's married and his wife also drives-i'll second that! I have a 5spd 02' that I wish my wife COULD drive but, she cant since its a stick.

Although she is one of the worst drivers i've ever seen (she's scared to death of driving), it would be allot cheaper for use to just have ONE car payment and both to drive the same car.

So, i'll say it....Yes, I wish I could return mine for a 02.5' model-in auto of course! Dont get me wrong though. If my wife could drive a stick, I would always own one. I love it way too much!

as for the new 5's, i sometimes wish i'd have waited, but then i wouldn't be the first with a p5. so i don't mind not having the new stuff. i just buy more toyz to make my 5 cool. i kinda like the new rims tho, they look good.

hope you're happy with your 5! honestly, if you are happy with your car (honda, mazda, toyota etc) that's all that really matters...unless you have an @sstek. yeah, those are ugly.

If you want to trade wheels (the word rim only applies to the outside part of the wheel) I'll pay for the shipping. But you have to take yours off and send them first.

I am glad you are enjoying your ride though! If you ever get some pictures of the tweeter mount i'd be interested in seeing it. Hell i might just take a trip to my dealership and look around.

Thanks again for the info.
Here ya go, got a pic of the new tweeter today.

Are you planning on keeping the stock stuff in or are you going to replace it? How does it sound?
I think it sounds pretty nice. I am not a super demanding audiophile nor do I want to spend alot of $$ on the stereo. It has a CD player and sounds decent so it will probably stay stock. I might add a powered bazooka sub or something later on for some added low end.

Thanx, I have a pioneer component speaker set with separate
tweeters. I am going to get them mounted in the same spot!

No doubt the sidemarkers are safer, but they do look a little cluttered - only because the Protege5 has those dumpy-looking amber bumper markers - having both just looks like too much - I agree with many of the posters here.

It's the trade-off or having our awesome headlights with no amber in the sides.

I stopped to look at the new P5s when I was waiting for some minor service today. I have to agree that with both, the original side lights and the new markers, on the cars it looks a bit too cluttered. If they had just moved the one set further back and made it a blinker as well that would have been a nice solution to the problem.
