oh no...

So I'm driving on my way to school this morning, and I'm stopped at a red light. When I put the stick in gear, I take off and I hear this awful noise that's really loud.. you know the kind of noise that you hear supped up cars make?? As if the exhaust has exploded or something... This is the noise the car is making...what the hell could have happened? I drove it to Mazda and it is there right now... what do you guys think the problem is?

Had the same thing happen on my old Pontiac .. turned out the exhaust pipe disconnected from the exhaust manifold so my little 4-cyl was sounding like big mean V-8 haha!! That could be it ...

If not, please describe this awful noise to us, is it just loud or is there grinding going on?

bwahaha...I've heard a 4 cylinder with no exhaust mani...sounds kind of like an F1 car, but certainly not a V8

Close enough Mac .. gimme a break

Anyway, back on topic .. check to see if your exhaust is still connected. That's probably what happened.

You might have blown a baffle inside your muffler. This could possibly make that sound. I had that happen once and boy was it loud.
