2) i have a mazda protege 1.6L 2001 where can i find headers for it .

1) I'm a newbie too and I'm no mech. , but I think the spark plugs are under the hood, if I'm wrong then I'm sorry.

3) MP3 is the new mazda protege 3 and the MP5 is the mazda protege 5. Yours might be called the 1st Gen.

Let me help to clarify...

Look at your valve cover (the very top part of the engine). There are going to be 4 holes. They may be covered by coil packs, but otherwise you will see the spark plug wire boots covering the holes. The spark plugs are down in there. They thread into the head and protrude into the combustion chamber.

Best of luck looking for aftermarket parts for 1.6L engine. I know it is slowly expanding, but still there isn't much. I haven't looked for headers personally for it because I have a 2.0L, but I'm sure a quick search will reveal any possible solutions.

Finally, you have a plain old Mazda Protege DX, LX, or ES depending on trim level of your particular vehicle. I'm guessing either DX or LX. Anyway, the MP3 was a limited edition 2001 model. They made 1500 of them total. It is NOT the new Mazda3. The MP5 is a nickname for the Protege5 wagon/hatchback.
