My girlfriend got about a month ago a 2000 protege SE 1.6 auto. The thing is when she starts the car in the morning it's rev to about 1800-2000 rpm this seems preaty hight on temperetures about -3 to +5 here in Canada... would this be normal or should we get it check??

sounds a little high...usually on warm up, especially in colder temperatures, the engine does tend to rev a little higher until it warms up...does it idle down after warm up?? if so it should be fine

this is a good place to post that question....it sounds pretty normal to me...

One thing to keep in mind is that when you're ideling at 1800rpms thats only like 1350rpms U.S.

= )

well it does go down after the engine gets warms but 2000rpm at mild temperetures seems hight to me... a -40 maybe but i've never had a mazda before so it could be normal i guess...

thanks for the help!

Funny, Rod.
Actually at today's exchange rate it would be 1337 rpm.
