My eBay SRI

Well I posted earlier about having problems and well I thing I fixed them. So I decided to give a little write up.

Well the whole transaction started off pretty stale. I am active duty military stationed overseas so if I order anything it has to be shipped APO. Its just like shipping someting in country. NO international fees. This "company" said that they shipped APO, but when I went to buy now there was no option for APO. So I said to hell with it and I wont get the intake. Well I started to get mail saying I need to pay for my merchendise.WTF!! So I emailed the "company" telling them it was their fault that I couldnt pay. So it took us a couple of days to fix that problem.

I got my intake today and left work 30min early so I wouldnt loose day light. I get home thinking it shouldnt take more than 30 min. When I open the box everything says somthing different from the "company" I ordered it from. But its all good. I opend it up expecting to see good instructions but all I got was about 10 steps. No pictures. My intake tubing didnt have to bung for me to screw in the air sensor, but I finaly saw the little L shaped bracket that I could make work(pic 2). I was expecting the intake to rub againgst the brake resivour but, to my suprise with alittle work I got about an inch of room and still get a good seal. The second little bracket to go on the MAS IMO is alittle weak(pic 1). Other than that everything went in pretty well. Test drove the car, and I think I got alittle plesebo HP. But one thing that I have to admit it sounds damn good. I think 3k-5k rpm is its sweet spot. If someone thinks other let me know. All in all I think the eBay intake is a good buy if you are up for alittle "AFRO engineering"

My ebay intake is runnin great. I've noticed a lower rpm when cruising above 50 mph also. I got the one from procarparts and it came with a true new in the box K&N. That one does not come with instructions though. I also did my set-up slightly different than intended.

I left the stock rubber hose with pcv valve and mass air flow sensor attached. Used one piece of tubing (with the hole for sensor) and placed it behind the headlight. I detached the coolant resevoir and bent up a little prong on the plate. I then bolted that closer to the battery. Now I've practically got a cold air intake without spending $250 for one by Ingen. It pulls air from the hole in the wheel well and from the cavity below the headlight. And most importantly, stays out of the path of the HOT radiator fan air.

Oh yeah!

I know, lots of people would My apologies. I don't have a digi camera, but I used my friends to take some pics of before and after. We forgot to take pictures during the installation, got too wrapped up in what we were doing. I'll do my best to get them here this weekend.

P.S. I've never put pics on here before. Anything special I need to know?

Here we go. I did a search for other pics but couldn't find any that looked like mine. If they're out there, sorry, but for those of you who can't find them either, head to my garage and take a look at the under hood pics. I've got a before and after.
