it will only work on manual cars since that was all the MP3 was. The ecu won't have the parameters necessary to operate the automatic tranny.

Ahh....makes sense. I didn't know that the MP3 was only manual. Thanks!

So, is this the only way we'll get to obtain your reflashing services, by being on this list? Or, will you be offering it after this group? I would jump on it but I need my car for now. My wife is soon to give birth to my first son and I'd like to have my car to get her to the hospital fast enough. But, that's why I'm asking, so that way I could have you reflash my ecu. Of course, overnighting my ecu would be the only option.

P.S. I know it's my first post here but I jumped here from mazdas247.com when I kept reading about this service being offered.

Welcome to the forum. I think you'll find it's a lot slower paced than the other forum but it's all about quality and not quantity here.

The deal is this:

I plan on doing 1 big GB at a discounted price. I'd like to do veryones all at one time since I have to borrow a donor car for this service (reflash must be done on-car).

After the GB is over Ken from ProtegeGarage will be offering this service through his shop in Chicago. Basically I'll just be giving him my hardware and software since I dont have the time to dedicate to a project of this scale.

Once Ken takes over everything is up to him. He can charge whatever he wants and do whatever he needs.

Hope that clears things up.

Ah, yes. That cleared it all up. I did not know about Ken doing the services afterwards. Thanks. I'll be waiting to see what Ken has to offer. But, thanks for coming up with this. You helped out alot of guys that don't/can't spend $300 on a 10hp gain.

Hey, I also followed a link from mazdas247. I am interested in participating, but my car is my dd and unless I could send my ECU out friday night and have it by monday morning I really can't.

Also, would flashing my ecu require me to remove the VTCS from my IM?

No, you can leave VTCS, the butterflies will just never close, and the car won't sound like crap when you start it cold.

Do you guys need an extra ECU to throw into the mix for this? I have a Protege5 ECU that could be used so that people don't have to be ECU-less. I'm assuming this would run as a big chain? Person A orders MP3 ECU reflash, they get MP3-flashed ECU in the mail, return their ECU (core charge?), then their ECU gets flashed and sent to the next person on the list?

All I would ask is that in the end I get an ECU back, whether or not it is MP3-flashed I don't really care. I only need it if I ever go back to stock and sell the car (yeah like that'll happen).

Matty has said that he would prefer it if he could do as many of the ECU's at once as he can. He has to borrow a friend's Protege to do the flash, and he doesn't want to have to borrow it every couple of days when each ECU comes in.

just fyi, I'm actually talking with Topher about buying his MP3 without an engine...I may be able to do all the flashing without ever turning the car on.

I need to get the hardware in hand first before I make promises and claims.

Am I still able to jump on this? I am at work, I will have to read more when I get home. Deposits/time tables/ect. I will be using my stock ECU so car won't be able to run with out it
