Don't just settle for red. You will regret it later. They tried that with me too. I had a silver ES on order and they tried to talk me into sand mica or what ever it's called. I said no and got a loner car out of them while I waited for mine to come in.
I'm very happy I held out. I just don't understand why they play this game. You don't walk into a Mazda dealer and get talked into going with a Honda.

tcrossley-
yeah, try removing the racks. that's the first thing i did and it took away that god-awful whine. then add sounds and pump it up. it'll drown out that god-awful road-noise.

Regarding the leather, yes it is available in Canada. It's an aftermarket thing that the dealer will put on. I've even seen some P5's with 17" Konig rims, and aftermarket intake. If you want those preinstalled before you get your car, just ask the dealer to do it. I got free tinting and floor carpet mats plus i didn't pay for freight/pdi with my deal.

Of course aftermarket leather is available here--we have cows too. It's the factory-installed leather that we're not sure on. We may not get it at all, since we already don't get the leather steering wheel and side airbags.

BTW, floor mats come free with the P5 anyway--hope your dealer didn't make too big of a deal out of giving those to you

Maybe in Canada, but Edmunds at least lists them as a $80 (MSRP) option. That said, it may be difficult to find a P5 that doesn't come with that option included.

Yes, in Canada floor mats are included at no cost--this seems to be the trend up here over the last few years. Dealers were generally willing to throw them in for free anyway back when they did cost something, so I'm assuming the manufacturers decided to just make it official.
