well here is one for you guys I just totalled my 2001 honda civic with like 4k of after market on it. ABout 10K in damage. That is how I got my 2002 Protege.
Well I moved form CHarlotte nc back to BUFfalo ny and my insurace with one accident no tickets will be going from 740.00 every six months to 1240 every six months. I the said it was because of the accidnet and the kind of car I bought funny how that is since in CHarlotte the Civic is the most stollen car and the most street raced.

All I have to say is my current insurance rates are of my own doing! Damn that "fun pedal"
I'm 28 on 09/11, I'm married and have a kid on the way and my insurance is still $175 cdn/month.

which company???
I've noticed lots of protege5' fellows said full coverage... what are the limits? 15/30/10 or 25/50/15 or 100/300/50 these numbers are in thoudsand dollars.
as a Californians... southern cali to be more specific, i need to get uninsured motorist too.
i'm 29, female, no tickets (knock on wood ..hhmmm... my desk is glass), coverage 15/30/10 (full coverage), 15/30 (UM), 500/500 deductible.. rentals car.
$102 per month.
i still this it's expensive... i'm hunting for a less expensive and still get a good customer service.
which company? help me out here.

There is some good advice in this thread and some very good points made. That being said, I'm going to try to avoid commenting on any one else's premiums and just state my experiences.
Some background:
I ended up settling on NJ Cure, which keeps their costs down by not having individual agents (you take care of everything over the phone.) My new policy doesn't provide as much liability and personal injury coverage as State Farm did, but that's a risk I'm willing to take. NJ Cure also offers a limitation on lawsuit option, which reduces rates substantially but limits your ability to sue (a good thing, IMHO.) As long as your driving record is pretty clean, they should have some of the best rates available.
Right now, I'm paying about $1,400 a year to insure two cars (not including the Protege5.) I have no collision coverage on either car but I do have comprehensive with a $500 deductible on the Porsche which is classified for "pleasure use" (driven less than 5,000 miles a year.)
I called for a quote on the new car, and they gave a premium of $2,600 a year on the Protege5 alone for full coverage. However, that's with a $500 deductible on collision, so I asked for a quote with $1000 deductible and it dropped to $2100 a year. In other words,
To lower the deductible on collision from $1000 to $500, the rate increases by $500 a year.
Unless you've got money to burn, I can't see why anyone would go for the lower deductible. I mean, why not save yourself 500 bucks a year and spend the difference when the time comes to make a claim? The only way it would be worth it is if you made a claim of over $500 every year, but if that were the case your insurance would be like, a zillion dollars. Give or take.
Some background:
- 23 year-old unmarried male (Why is it that insurance companies are the only ones who consider you "unmarried" instead of "single"? )
- Live in NJ.
- No insurance claims, no accidents.
- Have 2 points on my license from a speeding ticket in 1999.

Well it looks like I am getting ahella deal on my INS
I am 26ish and the wifey is 21 one kid a house and 3 cars insured on our policy with a Yearly total of $1536.32 Now that is damn good,
Just a little bit of humor Get married tell them your married and or buy a junker car insure it since they are rating the driver more so then the car. Tell them the pleasure car is the new one and you drive the older one all the time.
My buddy called his ins co and got a quote for his 98mustang GT and told them his primary car would be a 58 Karman ghia VW and that actually lowered his monthly cost for 2 car disc and driving the older of the tow making his total policy less expensive.

I guess Dru and I shop at the same company. I'm 38 and use mine for business (30,000k's/18000 miles a year)and I pay $1200.00 a year. No accidents ever and no speading tickets in some 8 to 10 years

I am currently 26 year old single male with a clean record...(no accidents or speeding tickets). I currently pay 110 buckaroos a month or 660 every 6 month through my insurance. I also have a loan out on this car. I highly advise getting renters insurance through the same person that you get your car policy from (if you currently rent your apartment). This will decrease your yearly by around 120 to 160 bucks.
Hopefully I will not get into any trouble this year(cross my fingers)...and my rate will drop by another 50 bucks every six months.

I haven't bought a P5 yet, but I called for an insurance quote on one and was told $1250 per year. I have the maximum insurance deduction for MB (No accidents for 10 years) and I will soon have 4 of a possible 5 merits on my license (It takes 2 years of clean driving to earn one merit, but you can loose them in a heartbeat ).

Im in Mississauga Ont and work for an insurance comp....I am getting my P5 in about a week....insurance is approx 1200/yr and I am 23yrs old....if you want a good trick to bring down the insurance....take the glass cov'g off.....may bring down prem by $200 yr....not much, but anything is a help!

Re: which company???
If you are searching for California Rates.
Try out the state rate posting for insurance companies.
http://www.insurance.ca.gov/docs/FS-Surveys.htm
You can search all the average rates from last year from
all the california insurance companies by profile and see
which one would be the best for you.
With the stock market in the crapper now. Rates will be
higher than posted, but you can still get a sense for the
cheapest ones.
