Question Header

Hello!!!

I'm trying to make a list of all the parts available for my pro 2.0 2001 and got trouble finding headers.

I'm looking for a 4-2-1 headers that would fit without having to struggle to find a way to make it fit. I ain't no expert in mechanic and don't want to have trouble with the car.

I saw the one at www.essentialspeed.com (600$ CAD) the equal length header. It say's there it's for MP5, but I assumed it was fitting alright on a 2.0 sedan. Correct me if I'm wrong. Sure would match what I'm looking for, but I never buy anything before comparing it with other brand.
We want to best for the price right.

There is also the STAINLESS 4-2-1 HEADER for the 2.0L mazda by AWR, but I couldn't find much info about it, so if anyone out there know anything about it, have tried it .... let me know.
Part number 0000-06-3401
Price 569$ (believe its CAD)

Also heard about the Racing Mazda header, but don't know if its a 4-2-1 and couldn't find it anywhere.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thx

Jim

no one feels like answering this one? Or is no one ever put a header on his 2.0L Pro?

I have the EssentialSPEED shorty tuned header on the way in from Canada. This header is designed to drop the power curve 700+ rpm from around 3800. This will give the 2.0L much-needed midrange grunt.

A 4/2/1 header enhances the upper mids and the top end, while a 4/1 is for extended top end performance--a racing header, essentially.

The EssentialSPEED is guaranteed to drop in and FIT, something some designs don't do without work. There's also been questions of quality in some of the headers available for the Pros. Cheaper ain't necessarily better. Check 'em out, if possible, for proper fitment and quality control.

Two important points: If you have an emissions program, don't bypass the two cats--it's illegal. Secondly, some headers don't provide bungs for the sensors mounted on the cats and without them, the dreaded Check Engine Light (CEL) comes on. While this may not bother you, it immediately alerts any emissions tester to a problem and the first thing they'll look for is a missing or defective cat. Guaranteed!

Hope this helps.

Wagner motorsports...TOP NOTCH

This is the set-up I'm using on my car. Dyno tested (not on my car) on a stock P5 with just the header was 7hp 10lb/tq

$285 I believe for the header in SS and it has all of the needed bungs.

*edit* see my thread in the vendor section for GB info.

downpipe

This is the "donwpipe" to replace the first cat on the car if you so choose. Mine is cat-less. This will also bolt in stock locations so you may do these one piece at a time.

not sure on price yet of this piece...mine had no cat.

Firstly the cel will come on as soon as you remove a cat!

2nd...By leaving in bothe cats..you will not much HP! Hey bottleneck the exhuast flow!

I think the numbers aren't true! Unless you replace both cats w/ high flow cats!

do you not see the cat on the downpipe? That is the only cat needed to bypass the two stock cats. Also, the header bolted up to the STOCK p5 exhaust showed EXACTLY 7hp and 10lb/ft. I saw the dyno and know the owner of the car. Also, in May I'll be up at Wagners shop to pick up my new cams and AEM ecu. Wagner's the real deal.

i have the awr header and it fitted with a little bit of muscle. very nice header very well designed. had a very nice improvement thorughout the powerband. my friend has an integra with an si motor swap and i used to lose to him by about three to four cars. with the header, he is lucky if he can beat me by half a car to a car. also comes with both o2 sensor bungs and egr fitting. you just need to get an o2 cheater so that your check engine light does not go on.
