Arghman asked a simple question and everybody gave him stupid and pointless answers. I feel you Arghman. I thought ppl cared about 1/4 mile time and stuff. I wish I had an answer, but my reply probably made it worse. :)
Can someone answer his question please? I wanna know also.

I haven't track tested the car yet, but i am guessing that in my current state I could run 7 seconds to 60 and 14.5 to 15.5 in the quarter mile. When I do (i.e. - warmer temps arrive) I will post them.

Arghman October-23rd-2002 12:35 PM

haha, yeah, crap this thread is annoying :p
Thanks again CaptainKRM....if you could do a 14.5 that would be damn impressive from an MP5

:D

igdrasil October-23rd-2002 01:24 PM

never raced before

P5 stock (only injen intake), 87octane fuel, less that 1/4 tank.

With my 200lbs friend as passenger and not aligned wheels (eibachs just installed): 17.9s
Me only 17.4s :squint:
Wheels aligned 16.97 @80.8Mph :dunno:

We need to get rid of the cats.

CaptainKRM October-23rd-2002 01:36 PM

I don't think removing either catalytic converter will give you serious performance gains. Both of them are relatively high flow. When I installed my cat back exhaust I got to take a good look at the one farther back and can't really see anything more than marginal gains from removing them. A less restrictive exhaust, the intake and cams would give you some better HP gains. As would high compression pistons. As would.....

TURBO!!!!! YAY!!!!! TURBO!!!!!

Sorry, nutted myself there.

All have to say is: make your car light, and some other stuff which may not be obvious especially to those with 17" rims

Arghman October-23rd-2002 04:19 PM

I think you'd be surprised at how little weight affects your speed unless you take out like 200+ pounds i dont think you'll notice much difference on the street. Maybe on the track, but probably not the street.

Atticus October-23rd-2002 04:35 PM

RE; 1/4 TIME

I RAN 14.2

Arghman October-23rd-2002 04:38 PM

Yeah Menace, like i said it's kinda hard to notice a diffference unless u take out a lot of crap. I don't see how I can take 200 lbs out of my car that easily and still have it be a daily driver :P

Atticus, that was the most vague and imcomplete post i've ever seen ;)

HS8 October-23rd-2002 06:16 PM

well the simple fact is that the P5 is not a fast car, im sure alot of people have noticed that, of course you can mod the car up to make it fast, but bone stock, it's slow, it ain't a SiR or SE-R for that matter

Arghman October-23rd-2002 06:39 PM

Yeah, that's one of the reasons i was wondering how fast people have made them.

RobP5 October-23rd-2002 06:42 PM

I ran 16.97@80.91Mph :( :( :(

:tear:

igdrasil October-23rd-2002 06:42 PM

think again...

lets give the aftermarket some time to develop performance parts. Of course the P5 Stock is not a fast car, but its not that slow.
I've seen worst cases (like non v-tec civic) that in stock form they just sock really bad...a few performance parts and they become respectable.
.....
for now...get the intake/exhaust cams, a high flow intake filter system (injen?), header and exhaust system, and maybe the intake manifold.
I think this could give 20+bhp (12+whp)????

:{D

...and it dosent stop firing rounds untill the target disappears  ! I'd have to say it's a bit of overkill...but why stop at the farmer's daughter when you can have his wife too, :D !
My father did consulting for the install on the Canadian Navy Ships right before the Gulf War. My father had the same love affair with the system as you seem to Sir Nuke :D

And to answer the actual question, I have run a best of 16.557 1/4 at 83 mph with a reaction of .633 :D No boost or spray either :) Its not a P5 but I'd thought I'd shoe-in on the fun.

All I have is a K&N cone and a custom exhaust from the 90-deg bend back (my worst restriction...and my next improvement). I'm running on P195/60R14 BF-Gs COMP T/A HR4 tires.

I was having problems all day only running 16.7s and 16.8s...shifting through to 4th gear. I decided to run-her out in third...I hit fuel cut as I crossed the trap...and hit my goal for the day...a 16.5!

This was basically a baseline run. I'm using it to gauge my improvements.

Do you need to see a time slip? ;)

Arghman October-23rd-2002 11:15 PM

Igdrasil, i thought if you added all those things you should expect AT LEAST 20 WHP, if not more like 30. But i'm not sure *^_^*
