DG Motorsports Hood *PICS*
Hey everybody, I just got back from DG Motorsports in Oceanside, CA. First off, they had the best customer service! Everyone I talked to was nice and very willing to answer my questions from when I called to when I showed up. The quality of the hood is pretty amazing, the weave of the carbon fiber looks much nicer than the Fiber Images hood and is on par with JDM Spoon hoods. The underside of the hood is fully finished and looks as beautiful as the top and the edges are smooth, rounded and align perfectly with the fenders. Truly this hood fits as perfect as stock. I can get you guys some closeups of the weave and underside if you'd like, just ask. And no, I don't work for or am affiliated with DG Motorsports in any way, I'm just extremely happy with their product ans service. Check out www.DGmotorsports.com for more info.

That looks sweet! Probably way outta my price range though. Oh well...when my hood gets destroyed from rock chips, maybe I'll look into one of those :D
|
I like the way it matches your wheels!!! Nice contrast with the paint too. Normally I dont go for the different colored hood thing but I can honestly say it looks good on yours!!!
|
Hey thanks mito7878, I was never really big on the different colored hood thing either but I liked the way they matched the wheels, plus I plan on getting a carbon fiber wing too so it'll all come together eventually, I just need more money! =) The hood retails for $795 but they are running a special on it right now.
Shawn |
Yeah I think the wing would bring it all together. The main reason I never liked the different colored hoods was that a buddy of mine had a white accord with chome wheels and a carbon fiber hood. YUK!!!!
A dark car is a must. Good price though. |
Section 8,
I would get the clear side markers. That would clean up the side better. Just a thought. |
sweet ride...what type of wheels are those?...I think the carbon fiber rear view mirrors would look good with all your other carbon fiber products you want to get...just a though:D
|
Looks really awesome.
Saving for the one with the intake myself. |
So how much was the wing?

Shawn Kincaid I meant the CF wing Section 8 was going to buy next. |
oh hehheh. Didn't see his after-post. My mistake.
|
I'm going to pick up the STI wing made for the Subaru Impreza for my car when i get a bit more cash...it costs about $1700  so it'll take me a little while to be able to justify that much money for it..plus I have to get the holes in my trunk filled from the stock MP3 wing. Oh well...you're only young once right? Here's some pics...

Yup, your only young once but your broke for many life times!!!!
|
$1700, yeowch! With that kind of money, you could actually increase the performance enough on your car to warrant an aerofoil spoiler. I hope that thing is speed adjustable at least....but I guess I ain't buying it so it don't matter.
|
l love carbon fiber hoods, am jealous. I want my car now and a hood.
:bounce: |
Reking you dont have your car ?
|
I getting my car very soon, at the end of July. I'm waiting to gather more money, so I would only owe the bank $3'000 and then the car will be paid off and it's mine. I HATE CAR PAYMENTS! THANK FOR RUBBING IT IN!
|
What are you going to get? a P5?
|
Yes, a 5speed silver P5 .:D
|
As one of the older guys here I just don't see the fascination with it, must be for the younger crowd
|
You are not that old, what are you 31 that's not old ! I'm going to be 24, that means I must be getting older too.

To me the all black look in a hood means you wrecked your ride & can't afford to paint it yet. Maybe if you painted the CF the same color it wouldn't be as bad.
Just my 2 cents |
$795? ouch! It looks awesome and all, but the fact is, its a CF hood, thus easily to break off of latch and steal any/all engine mods you have. I am getting a CF hood when I paint my accord Civic Si blue, but what are they gonna do steal my internals? Even though the CF hood looks awesome, especially on your car, you need to look at the risk you are taking with it. Regular CF hoods which latch the same way retail around $399 here, and the weight difference doesnt actually make a true "difference" in performance. CF hoods kicked off really good for a while, and after everybody realized how easy it was to pop the latch on one they went back to OEM :D Just something to think about, it does look awesome on your car :)
|
But, don't you like the way real carbon fiber hood looks when it's in the sun. It's shinny and 3 dimensional looking, I love it. Will I like it on some cars.:p
|
Nope. That black CF look is right up there with those giant roof top wings, lighted exhaust tips & colored tire treatments
|
I agree, there is no true fascination with the hood, I am getting it for my accord because its cheaper than buying an OEM hood and painting it (hood is messed up from when the kid undid my lugnuts). I plan on rigging a lock to the hood however, so you can't break into it. If you ever get a CF hood and are too lazy to walk to your release latch, just slam down on the front of the hood where the latch is :D It pops up.
|
Yep, I think CF looks like ass too. It just so tacky, and rice looking, and doesn't fit with any car. You see this nice car that has good looking lines, and a sweet body, then you get to the hood, and its like WTF?!?!
DOWN WITH CARBON FIBER ITS WAAAAYYY PLAYED OUT YO |
I too don;t usually like the look of CF hoods, but that looks good IMO.
What does it weight, and what does the stock hood weigh? |
I dont know about everyone else but I dont care what everyone thinks I like the CF hoods if it looks good and has nice clean clear coat but if you paint over it that fine as long as the bottom side has a nice look also....Sweedenhouse when is the last time you seen jimmys car...you know he has a CF hood with the hood painted so that the CF looks like a big honda H....I dont like the way he did that
|

And what is an NPT? |
NPT = non performance tun[ing/ers]??
cf hoods satisfies 2 crowds. The strip everything away and replace heavy stuff w/light stuff crowd, and the doing up the car for looks crowd. cf hoods like kinda cool, depends on the colour of the car. looks good w/the blue and his rims IMO. If you wanna increase your quarter mile times, then I suggest going on a diet =) But your mileage may vary. It would heavily (no pun intended... who am I kidding?? fully intended) depend on the how overweight the driver is. =) take a dump, piss, shave your head and beard and all body hair, strip down to your boxers, remove the mirrors (who needs to look back when u're doing a 1/4 mile!!! =P). after all that.. u might be able to shave some 1/10ths here and there!!! =) (disclaimer: sarcasm gauge is redlining) |
Sweeden So, I guess you don't know how to e-mail! Are you a :chicken: !!
|
Yeah I've seen Jimmy's accord wagon, and I was like WTF did you do? At first I asked him if he primered his hood or sumthin when we're at Los Dos, and he just kinda looked at me real stupid and told me to fuck off. As for what he did with the hood, well a friend of his hit the remote start on his car on accident and it was in gear. The car ran into the back of a truck's trailer hitch and fucked the hood up. So he sanded down the CF, and tried to paint it up the best he could. (he works with body, and paint and stuff like that now, so he knows what he's doing).
And Reking, no I'm just slow, you gots mail. |
Looks mean nothing when your engine is stolen :D
|

I agree with everyone. Everyone has good points for both sides but my main thing is that if everyone left their cars stock and didnt do different things to them then all of our cars wouild look the same. I personally like it when I see something different. I may not buy the hood or wing for myself but like I said before it does look good with his color paint.
