CPU Fan
CPU Fan
so my amp seems to cut off and go real low sometimes, and someone told me that it could be overheating. nothing in my trunk and still happens. so im wondering, if i go to comp USA and get a cheap fan, would it be able to hook to the battery power?
get any normal fan, ie case fan (big) they run off 12volts.
the cpu fan is varable.
it would help some but youd need some ducting to make the air flow more usefull.
how is your amp mounted try mounting it verticly with the fins facing up and down.

Does it have a fan now?
Is there anything blocking it? It is out in the air -not under carpet is it?
Lastly, are you 'over-driving' it? Give speakers and amp capability in real RMS numbers (not the 'box' grossly exagerated "10,000 GigaWatts!"
)
Under normal load and good installation - an amp should NOT be overheating.

how is it mounted??? because i had mine on the back of seat vertically and got pretty damn hot.... so i had a closer look and the vents are on the top of the amp... so i moved it onto the boot floor now i got no problems... never cut out... but these things do go into thermal shutdown dont they? once it gets to hot
