never owned a Honda...

...but both my brother and mother both own accords and many friends of mine own civics or accords. They are good cars, but somehow Mazda still gets me more exited. The exterior styling is an obvious reason, but I even like the Mazda interiors better.

This car is my third Mazda in a row. Even though I think brand loyalty is kind of stupid, each of my Mazdas was a great, trouble free car. The first was an '88 323 hatchback that had four speeds and no air conditioning. It was a really fun little car that was perfectly reliable for the 70 thousand miles I put on it. The second Mazda was a truck- a B2500. The thing was basically a Ford Ranger, but it did everything I wanted it too as well. The problem was that it was a truck. I didn't haul things nearly as much as I thought I would and I never took it off road.

Now I have my great little Protege that just got a little less great now that I put the factory wheels back on for winter. It is still fun, but I'm looking forward to the next car, something that has power in addition to all of the great qualities in my Protege. Perhaps they'll make a Mazdaspeed 6

I went from a 1989 BMW 325i to my 2002.5 Protege5.

damn, I miss that BMW. there's a lot about the BMW that the Pro5 can't replace...but then again, I sure don't miss my BMW mechanic, my abysmal gas mileage, my electrical gremlins and leaking oil...

but that BMW sure was fun to drive...the Pro5 comes close to the fun-to-drive factor of the E30 BMW...

here's a link to the BMW...now sold:

I also came from a 2001 Civic. Engine keeps stalling and it was on its third set of shocks when I traded her in. Power steering rack also gone bad but Honda refuses to replace it under warranty. My car was stock except new tires so they had no mods to blame on (typical Honda service nowadays).
