$1200 ?!?!?
I'm here in Canada. I've got a quote on $350 for the bumper and $225 for the MP3 rebar that mounts the bumpr. That come's to $575. And another $150 to have the bumper color-matched right from the Mazda dealership here.
I think what's adding the extra cost is the foglights. Mazda charges $350 Canadian for each foglight, which is retarded. You can get some Katz SR Spotlight fogs instead and cost $175 Canadian for the set of two. They are the same size and fit right in the MP3 bumper fog holes and they also have clear lenses. They look very kickass.
So I'm pretty sure that's what's hiking that price up insanely. And if that's $1200 without the fog lights included than they are making are sweet fortune off of the conversions.
Just a little heads-up for you. Hope it helps.
Also, here's a pic of the Katz spotlights replacing the OEM fogs on an MP3:
And a full frontal view:
They look much sharper and cleaner than the OEM fogs. And at less than half the price of the OEM's you can't go wrong.

Dr. Evil, u sure that its only 350$ CDN for a bumper? That is veryyy cheap if you ask me, and I would consider doing it right away, even if the rebars are 275$. I payed 190$ for a fender, and 200$ for a headlight, so I was thinking that the bumper would be around the 700$ at least.....
And painting costs a lot... none of the Mazda places here would paint it for me, so I had to take it to bodyshops where they all quoted me over 400$ for paint and labour, so I just took it to this Fijian (spelling?) guy that did a wicked job for 60$
Black Mica is hard to match, but he did it

As for Mazda painting it. Here the dealer and a body shop "co-exist" so to speak. It's a bodyshop that does other cars as well, but mainly does Mazda's work for them. That's where I got the painting price.

I went in for servicing today and decided to ask about the conversion. Here are the rough prices (in Canadian Dollars)...I can't quite remember off the top of my head..
Front Bumper: $380
P5/MP3 Lower Grille: $30
Fog Lights: $360 each!!!
Side Skirts: $180 each
All the components come unpainted of course, but they are factory primed, so painting won't be as quite as expensive as it could be. And yeah, Kincaid is right...the fog lights are where they make that fortune.

Deceptipro, buddy, I live right by Coquitlam, we gotta meet up sometime!
Painting the bumper would cost about 200$ for paint, and about 100 for labour if you go to a bodyshop...
plus 380 for the part, and 275 was it for the rebar?
almost 1000$ with taxes.... actually not that bad

Makaveli:
yeah, that'd be cool. Where are you at? I live right behind Coquitlam Center...spitting distance, actually.
Kincaid:
I realized that after I made my post...oh well. I have a friend who works at a detail shop...maybe I can get his help and drop the cost, somewhat, in painting and labour.
