I think you'll need a good installation manual, preferably with pictures...cause well I'm a newb, and I don't wanna fuck up my only ride. This is going all so fast now...its great! but summers coming and wells I'd like one last summer to use my AC :-P here in So. Cal. Oh wells I'll get on the 10+ GB to give myself more time, and a bit more discount.

Damnit for this being my only car, can't afford down time...grrrrrr! Time for some number cruching to try to squeez my abroad trips, and wells food also, cause this WOMP is priority :-D

So the torque can be potentially a problem for automatics, I've heard of it before but don't know why?

Also who again is being the test subject for that automatic tunning? Don't tell me you are tuning it on your manual, but just using low boost. I hope the WOMPs on an automatic preferrably on a sportronic for tuning at the moment. Hum...would the sportronic be affected in anyway with the haltech installed? I'm assuming the stock ecu will still control the gear selections in auto, but what about when you are using manual gear shifting?

Crosses fingers for a reliability and driveability.

I have 2 people lined up for automatic testing. Both using a different form fo fuel management. I'll compare info and either choose one or offer both

The reason this is a little safer than a turbo is because it doesn't pour torque on the transmission all at once. Don't think of this as a "power adder" think of it more as a V6 in the protege and you'll understand how it feels, drives, etc.

Also I would like to point out a common misconception about the sportonic autos compared to a regular auto. They are exactly the same the only difference is a 300$ module that allows manual shifting between the gears. Both trannies are the same internally and externally neither one is strong than the other.

Count Me In!

Hey Matty,
I've been watching this thread for a long time, chewing over this mod for a long time. I especially like the thorough nature in which you have tackled each of the problems as you've encountered them. Not that I'm loaded or anything, plus the fact that I've got an automatic and the miles are a little too close to 50K for my liking... But I'd like to be in on your first batch.

As I understand the needs, an OBX exhaust header & stronger engine mounts (front and rear) are needed. My 2 liter has been so good to me, I'd like to do the same to it. I'm not into the 'bling' thing, so my choices for mods are limited. Plus the fact that I like the 'Stealth' mode of a "sleeper". Let me know what other "tweeks" I might need to be ready for this package of yours.

well I'll actually be including the OBX and MIL eliminator in the kit if needed. Engine mounts are a BIG plus as well. With the manual cars I'm suggesting a lighter flywheel/clutch as it will allow the engine to build rev's faster...and in return boost.

In all honesty though, the general maintaince is going to be your biggest key point. Make sure you've got good gas, good fluids, good filters. I'm going to be including spark plugs pre-gapped in the kit. Running a fuel system cleaner like the BG's 44k will also help.

BUY GOOD TIRES!!

so when you gather people for the group buy... there will be a list of "options" to choose from that can be shipped at the same time and for cheaper than if i to gather the other parts myself? like... a flywheel and clutch setup will be cheaper through the group buy? i dont know if that made n e sense, but right now im a lil brain dead and cant think of a better way of wording my question.

I was thinking of opening my own shop a while back and calling it "Skills and Wheels"....Now we're shopping around for retail property to house all of the final assembly and production (as well as installations) of the superchargers. This will also give me a place to store the project cars I'm working on and hopefully a new (used) miata. I'm interested in building up a miata next

Roddimus Prime March-2nd-2005 08:25 AM

Devorak, basically we'll have an online order form with a base kit listed and all available options. We'll have 5-10+ people actually feel out the order form and once everyone is paid up the build will start. As an individual builder I'm going to have to wait for the money upfront before Ican actually purchase the goods to finish the kits. This takes a little longer to build but ensures that I won't go bankrupt buying parts on peoples word..

p.s. Typical options will include:

Obx header + MIL eliminator
SPEC clutches
SPEC Flywheels
Injector upgrades
Haltech upgrades
BEGi FMU / Voltage Clamp (for budget kits)
Powdercoating of all brackets and plumbing
Polished supercharger housing (chrome-look)
Recirculating Bypass Valve (as opposed to the vented style I'm running now)
Water/Alcohol Injection Kit (for those wishing to run high boost--no intercooler available anymore)

Damn straight you wanna hook up a miata! Once the wife starts getting paid some real cash and we get into a house next year, I'm gonna buy myself a beater and make the miata my toy.... Expecting to get it around 300-350whp and run circles around my brothers GTO...

nate0123 March-2nd-2005 09:04 AM

Matty, do you plan on slapping in a BEGi FMU/Voltage Clamp prior to sale to see what kind of AFRs you can get? (so we consumers can make the best informed decision)

my dads friend has a 450hp TT miata. or so ive heard

Roddimus Prime March-2nd-2005 09:52 AM

oh yeah, I wouldn't even think of releasing something without testing it first. Here are my early thoughts:

AUTOMATICS:
4.5-5psi Blower
BEGi FMU /VC - (budget kit)
Haltech F10X - (standard kit)
Haltech E6X - (Race kit)

MANUALS:
7-9psi Blower
MSP ECU - (budget kit)
BEGi FMU / VC - (budget kit)
Haltech F10x - (standard)
Haltech E6X - (race)

As you can see I've got some neat ideas but I just need to find people interested in testing them out!

If anyone is interested in W.O.M.P. Sponsorship they should send a pm or email to Ken@protegegarage . He and I are going through and screening for people to meet certain criteria.

2 levels of sponsorship are available but the first is available immediatly.

1. Partial sponsorship will consist of getting all parts and accessories at cost in exchange for decal placemement and show/race participation with photo proof.

2. Full sponsorship will be FREE kit and/or accessories with very strict show attendance required. Also, W.O.M.P. "unifroms" must be worn at shows. I'll be providing a NOPI booth for full sponsors. Sponsored person must be in the booth answering questions, handing out flyers, etc..

scotty878 March-2nd-2005 01:53 PM

I really like the amount of options your considering providing. Hell, if I can save the money, I might get a bunch of that stuff all at once becasue a lot of it is what I want! I cant wait till you release some pricing outlines, I'm really curious as to how much I'd be spending!

...Hmm, sponsorship sounds kool, not into shows too much but maybe I could get into them! Certainlly a great way to spread the WOMP name, especially if you plan on going big with more kits and such!
