Oil pan baffle

Oil pan baffle
I have been searching various places (AWR, Corksport, etc) for an oil pan baffle without any luck. Didn't find any mention of it on here either (unless I am misusing the search feature). Does anyone have one or know anything about it?
I am just looking at doing some autocrossing, and I can't afford to lunch my engine. Or are the posts about oil starvation problems alarmist?

I have been looking for a good oil pan with a windage tray in it for a long time. I want it primarily because a windage tray reduces parasitic loss (and thus can give you back a missing hp or two). A good aftermarket oil pan also has a bung for an oil temp probe typically. No luck so far in my search. If you come across one, please let me know?

No one makes one...perhaps it's time to approach a company about making one as Oil starvation seems to be an issue for auto-x ers in the 3rd gen....what about possibly extending the oil pickup lower into the pan ??? Maybe it will help??

I could maybe fab something up (skills learned on board ship), but not having done this before and with the chance for a major screwup, I would prefer being able to buy one and just install it. Like I said, I can't afford to frag my engine. I have given it some thought, might be able to just put a baffle around the oil pump pickup tube to keep some oil around it at all times (like they have around the pickup in a fuel cell). If I happen upon a manufactured one I will let you all know.

Mental Addiction was SUPPOSED to have one for us eons ago..they dropped the ball, tripped on it and then fell down...Im haveing one made if I keep the car. Take a junk yard pan to a race fab. shop and have them baffle it, cheaper and quicker.

I made one for my Chevy 350. It's just a simple one-way hinged door (or flap) so the oil could return to the sump but not slosh back out during hard breaking. The windage tray came stock on the 4-bolt blocks, so I already had that. Good idea though, keeps the oil away from the crank to eliminate splashing and foaming.

It looks like Mental Addiction may be giving this project a little more attention. According to their site, there is a tentative release date of 6-1-05. There is also a fairly large (and dated) thread about it on the "other" board.
