Is the Phantom Grip LSD as good as the MazdaSpeed or Quaife LSDs? The Phantom Grip model is the cheapest one I have seen so far out of the three I just mentioned. It does about the same functions as the others, but maybe a difference or two here and there. What is everyone's opinion about the LSDs, either by MS, Quaife or P.G?
The Quaife is actually a huge step up from the MazdaSpeed or the P.G. It's more than just a normal LSD. It uses gearing instead of clutch-style discs so that it will never wear out. That's why Quaife has a lifetime warranty. Over time the MS or P.G. will wear out just like brake pads or a clutch disc and then it will be the same as having an open differential unless if you replace it. I've also heard that the Quaife maintains more consistent power between the wheels because it doesn't slip like a normal LSD can. It's up to you to decide if it's really worth $1200 though. The MS LSD is the one I would go with just because it was designed to work with our cars (at least the MSP) from the factory.
