I wa messing around one day with the air intake, I unhooked the MAF and got my Check engine light to come on but after a few hours it went off.

Yeah, I had the same question.

Yeah i have the same question. Woudl we be able to disconnect our air box and somehow put on a cone filter without getting a whole new CAI or Short ram?

That looks good, but we don't have the same car
Will it work that easily for the P5? How could we connect the new air filter to the stock piping like 98zoomzoom has it?

The air filter I got had a clamp around some rubber and it mounted to the MAF sensor

YES, instead of a CAI you can just take out the stock air box crap and place a cone filter on the end of the intake tube. You will have to make a hole in the tube in order to put that probe sensor thing in there.

About the hp gains on a K&N filter: I have seen a cone filter give 7hp at the wheels ON THE DYNO when we replaced a fellow Focus owner's OEM panel filter with our K&N cone filter. Amazing, yet true story! Doesn't mean that it applies to all cars...

Later~

Thanks guys!

Just measure the size of the intake tubing and check it against the sizes of cone filters that they have at the local auto parts store. The small hole for the sensor can be made with a dremel tool.
