k&N air filter?????

anybody put a k&N air filter in their p5??? curious.. am about to buy one, but would like to know if anybody noticed an improvement in either pwer/gas mileage etc???

another note.. has anybody seen the "chip" on ebay that can boost your horsepower of your p5 up to 20 hp.. ??? anybody order it?? i think it is only a crappy resister to trick your temp sensor in your intake to think you're pulling in cooler air... any comments?

The K&N filter is a good, cheap addition to your PR5, you get a really nice sound as well as a Hp maybe, but nothing that you will notice...

You got to be kidding me right? You actually believe those hoaxes? Those guys are just trying to rip you off, its all bs.

believe, no.. but in theory....... isn't colder air = more power .?? i.e. cold air intake.... i can imagine it doesn't work, just curious if anyone bought one.. pretty hokey setup, that's for sure.."duct tape transistor to air temp sensor" .. no thanks.. duct tape good for somethings, but not engine performance. haha

K & N filter

I bought one for my old 91 Corolla GTS. But a K & N BOX FILTER. And it does make a bit of a sound difference, but not much. But if you want you could buy that filter and then remove the air intake that goes from the box to the front of the car (a plastic tube) and you will get a much nicer sound. A deeper sound, (sweet sound) without totally modifying the filter. But it's boasted to add like 7-8 horsepower, but like the other guy said nothing you'll notice.

Dude..why do you keep posting about this stupid chip. You posted another one on March 3rd and now another one? Everyone is telling you not to go get it and we wouldn't even come near that thing. If you really want it go get it and post if it's for real or not.

K&N filter is a very simple, clean and cheap yet practicle mod
you could do.
I felt about 2hp on my car, and the engine sound is very nice
I would get it if I were you

That is a big NO to the sensitive *** comment. I might also mention though that I am just over 27,000 miles on the car too.

I also forgot to mention that I washed the engine bay also...could it have been that which caused the check engine light to come on??? (Engine bay not completely dried out)!!!

when you guys are talking about the K&N filter is that the panel filter you drop into the airbox? or is it the cone one that actually replaces the airbox?? does the panel one give a different sound to the engine??

well, I am sorry, but I drive a 1.6L engine
and those ****** engines are very slow
and takes forever to pull from a stop

so, I could feel the engine is producing more power
and I could feel the car is accelerating a little faster

when I say 2hp, I am not giving the excat amount
I am just giving it a decent guess, so please...

just trying to help the guy out

try disconnecting your negative battery terminal and pushing the brakes for about 15 seconds. then reconnect and see if this helps. the MAF is probably sensing too much air, so it throws the CEL. might also want to make sure all the plugs are connected securely. hope this helps.
