Intake or chip?

I was jsut looking on ebay and am debating on whether to get a intake or a chip? Intake seems like a lot more junk to put in my car and only get 8-12 hp increase. The chip is said to increase Hp by possibly 20 hp, and is cheaper. Any advice?

Thanks

Chris

those chips are crap. what they do is trick your ecu to thinking that its taking in colder air than it really its, and you definitely won't get a 20 horsepower gain from this chip. if they worked we would all have one for only 19.99, spend the money and get yourself a good intake, Injen or AEM.

If your good and luck and can get a good deal on finding a Mazda MP3 model ECU then I beleive that will be a good investment
much better tweaks

You will see only marginal increses even with an Injen or AEM intake--both good products but by themselves will get you
maybe 2-4 hp max. Don't believe the crap you read on e-bay...

Definitely go with the intake, and still don't expect huge gains. Throttle response will be crisper, and maybe more low end grunt, but 2-4 HP max would be more realistic. Ditto those claims of "10-15HP" from a cat-back system. More like 4-5 max.

If you get a cheap ebay intake you will lose torque ("low end grunt") not gain it.

Can't speak for the AEM or Injen units.

you want cheap, go out and get yourself a K&N airfilter, there is a very small benefit but , it is 1 or 2hp for the taking and you never have to buy a stock filter again,

just clean it and oil it and your done.

allows your car to inhail better
