Flowmaster or Magnaflow?

Hey guys. I currently reside in Toronto, Ontario (Canada). I have a leased 2003 protege5, and would like to install a performance muffler onto it. Now, given that I'm leasing it, I would like to get something that will be bolted on without any welding/cutting. I heard that Flowmaster and Magnaflow are my two best bets, given the cost range that I'm looking for. Ideally, I would like a throaty exhaust note while minimizing interior noise, especially when i'm cruising on highway (basically I want to hear deep exhaust note as i'm accelerating). Any ideas? And for those residing in ontario, please advise where to go for great deals on either one. Thanks

I have magnaflows and I LOVE them. Plus they come with a life warranty. Flowmasters come w/like a 2 month warranty or close to that.

I actually had flowmasters at first.

Magnaflow sounds deeper, quieter in the inside, but ppl say they hear me further away. Plus there mufflers look A LOT better.

I can't imagine what a Flowmaster sounds like on a Protege...or anything smaller than 4.0 liters for that matter.

Are there any sound clips of a Protege with either a Magnaflow or a Flowmaster?

Ok heres the deal from a local guy, check out www.toprotege.com for some bolt ons in the B/S section Otherwise if yo want a band new bolt on, I know that NoyzBoyz carries Magnaflows and I think they are on Kingston Rd other than that I know that Markham Mazda has carried a bolt on alxle back Magnaflow. I can't believe I just plugged them (because there service has been realy bad) but hope it helps

So i take it magnaflow is the better alternative for protege5. Now, what are the prices for them do you know?

I vote for Magnaflo and I only paid like $155 U.S. and it was installed. I was suprised I found them at House of Mufflers, and they put it on for me.

Flomasters on import cars just dont mix IMO. The 50 series is what they recommend. I had that on my old Grand AM V6 and it really didnt impress me too much. Sounded nice on ignition but quiet on the go

you might also try looking at the dynomax super turbo. i have one on my '90 lx and it's got a nice mellow tone to it, and it's not annoying on the highway. i've had it for about 3 months now and still love it. the only downfall is that it had to be welded on. but the muffler was only $50.

you can always leave the exhaust on the car, i mean when leasing a car, you can do whatever you want as long as it doesn't decrease the value of it.

yea? are you sure that applies to canada too though? Cuz upon signing the lease they never mentioned anything about that.

i would assume, just call them and ask if if you can or if they care. its the same with the audio system. you can leave the aftermarket system in b/c it doesn't decrease the value.

thanks bro. I'll just take a chance and see. If I do get a bolt-on, then it totally doesn't matter.

yep, its just more expensive, but if you've got then $$$ then go for it

Custom made cat-back. Only cost me $320 ($150 for muffler, $170 for custom piping)
