digging up old subjects...

Okay, so if my 99 Protege uses the F25M-R tranny, it would be concievable that the G15M-R would fit my car as well as it also fits the 01-up cars.
And if all the G-style trannys are interchangeable, except for the bellhousing , a G15M-R tranny should be possible behind a KL V6...see what I'm saying?
I've also checked to see some measurements on the MX-3 for reference to see if the Gen3 Pro has enough room and it does.
Also, I've checked the mounts for...
1. engine front to right strut tower
2. tranny front to rad craddle
3. tranny rear to left sub-frame
The mounts are the same or close enough with slight modifications (cutting and welding). Is there a 4th mount at the firewall, I couldn't find it without sliding under the car, yet!!
Now anyone know if a G15M-R tranny is used in a MX-6/626 V6? If so, all I'd have to do is find an MX-6/626 V6 for the complete system...eh?!?
I have another buddy who has a MX-6 with a KL-ZE...better get a cars of beer and pop over for a while (also my friends MX-3 is sold in favor of a yellow Pro5...no influence from me )

re KJ-2.3L

Is the 2.3L KJ engine the one in the Millenia? With the millercycle and the compressor/supercharger? That motor makes like 210hp stock and is suppose to be excellent on emissions.

I don't want it anyway. Id be looking at a 2.5L stock engine (160-ish hp + upgrades) I'm afraid the ZE would push the emissions envelope too far (although I havent totally ruled it out...200hp is nice!)

Province.

And, yes. There's a ton of people on PT with ZEs. There's even a Canadian forum you can ask around in. Good luck.

Why not just get whichever engine you want and then run an EM-3F stand alone? They are only about $1300 with the parts you'd need and you can tune them to pass emissions unless you have a place that plugs their computer into your car. Then it won't supply the OBDII codes but not many places check for that. Usually just a sniffer in the exhaust.

That was the idea

I was planning to get a V6 in the car for the regular thrashing...like a BMW 320ci that spanked me a while ago. The idea of a standalone or tuneable system would be to clean up the future mods. I like the idea of having a laptop in the passenger seat so that you can reset the parameters after you got the certificate. Now, if you had a KL-ZE, do any of you think that switching to a stock ECU for the emissions test would get it to past, or are the engine internals the problem(would the stock ECU not try to straighten things out.)

PS-> thanx for the point to the probetalk forum re:KL-ZE

re KL mating with Gen3

From my preliminary measurements, I have found that there is enough room to fit a 1.8L K-08 motor, I'm hoping the KL and KL-ZE aren't that much bigger. I have a friend who recently put a KL-ZE in his MX-6, so I will be using that as my guinea-pig for measurements. The MX-3 I use to use is now sold, but the engine mounts are what I was looking into (shape and position). The Probe/MX-6 had a really low hood line so I'm not to worried about the hood clearance, and there seems to be enough sub-frame left t right room. If there is a problem, it will be the firewall, of which I might be able to work with (I have a welder, sandblaster, and many other fun tools, and I handle them like the shwartz !). This is the early stages of development, and I do have to goto my regular grind, so it moves slower than I'd like(If only I were independantly rich !)

Thanx for all the help with the info
