Engine Diagnostics Codes/ Scan Tool

Anybody out there know where one can find a free or cheap download/software to load on a PC to use as a scan tool to pull down Diagnostic Codes out of Gen.3 Protégé ECUs? I installed an Injen CAI, Plenum plugs, and NGK wires about a month a go no problems. Well two days ago I installed a Reactive high flow muffler drove for two days no problems then the dam check engine light comes on and the car starts cutting in and out while I’m in a closed loop type (?) (Cruising) driving situation. I can stop the vehicle and let it idle for about 30 seconds and the problem goes away but the light is still on. I thought it might be a backpressure problem with the muffler so I reinstalled the OEM muffler and I’m still having the same problem. When it starts cutting in and out, if I stay in a closed loop situation i.e. pushing down on the accelerator I have no problem as soon as a let off the accelerator the lest little bit the motor cuts out like I’ve down shifted, the car has a manual transmission. The problem only last for about a minute and then the car acts normal for about ten minutes then it starts again. Anybody got any suggestion?

I don't know what you consider cheap, but there is one available for $122 through http://www.obd-2.com/.

You can try http://www.pocketlogger.com . It works with most palm OS devices. I have the DSM version for my other car and it works great! Palms are much easier to mount in your car then a laptop is

Here's one that only reads the codes and doesn't do datalogging. Not sure if it'll work or not though.

It's only $49.99
