engine check light

the engine check light is on and i know there is nothign wrong w/ the car cuz i took it for a check up a couple of days ago. how do I reset this so that the light will go off.

negative, then get into your car (neg terminal still unhooked) turn your key to "ON" press brake a couple times, get out, rehook up your neg terminal, let your car idle for 10 mins.. Enjoy...

What?! That's it?! My dealership warned me that it would cost 75 CAD to get it turned off (if I ever forgot to tighten my gas cap)..

Would they do anything different then the battery thing stated above?

They can reset the trouble codes from the computer. But we have to get creative because we can't afford to buy the things (most of us). I'm guessing this is what caused your keyless entry to have problems? Don't tell the dealership that.

Actually you can find OBDII scanners fairly reasonably.
I got a an EZ Link scanner from E-Bay and I'd reccomend it to any shadetree mechanic.
Lots of features, upgradable, PC capable, realtime monitoring.......

or go to autozone and they will hook up there computer free too.
