Compression Ratio ???

how can we make our protege5 with higher Compression Ratio

ARD MP5 January-22nd-2002 04:28 AM

Higher Compression Piston Set

You need to get high compression pistons or shave the head. hehe. I'd get the pistons. Or you might just want to get a turbo and keep the low compression.

You could always pull the head and have it decked to reduce the camber cc, and while its off have it ported and extrude honed. It would also be a good time to revalve with larger dia valves too.

In this case, the simple answer is the best. FS-ZE pistons bump compression to 10.5:1, MazdaSpeed pistons to 10.7:1.

thank u guys....

does the it gain any hp?????

Eric F January-27th-2002 06:50 PM

Going from the stock 9.1:1 compression ratio to 10.5:1 should provide a nice boost in HP.

What type of gain?

Sweedenhouse March-4th-2002 02:20 PM

..and how much would it cost to have these installed?

Eric F March-5th-2002 02:35 PM

Nope...They don't.

mkdxxx March-5th-2002 10:51 PM

?

So if the mP3's don't have the higher compression how do they get the power out of it.

mkdxxx March-6th-2002 12:10 AM

Actually, I have but I don't ever remember seeing that the pistons are the same. Must have overlooked.

Sweedenhouse March-6th-2002 08:44 AM

Jesus Christ $1000 to void my warranty, ehhh I guess I won't be putting those pistons in anytime soon. Just bolts on for me baby.
