bad wheel bearing????

On my rear passange side wheel when i drive i get a deep vibration sound coming from my wheels. So I took off my rims and put some steeles on it and the noise continued. So i jacked the car up and took the wheels off and turned the hub and i hear a loud scrubing noise what is it? Is itthe hub or the wheel bearing...please help.

There was somewhat of a TSB on many of the Proteges for the rear brakes dragging. This could be causing the noise, try taking out the pads on that side and see if it continues. If it goes away, you might be able to get Mazda to cover it under warranty, some dealers will and some won't. Check out the FAQ for the exact number on it.
