B&m Short Shifters ,any Problems?

Im interested in getting the B&M shifter.

Ive read some guys were having trouble with sticky shifting in hot weather.

Is this still an issue?
Does anyone have any problems like this with their B&M shifter?
Thanks.

I have had B&M shifter for over a year, no issues. Alot of other people have them and most seem very happy.

i was gonna start a post about the B&M but i'll just add it to this one... I've had mine for a few months now and is it possible to not put the shifter in far enough? on the bottom of the shifter there are those two rubber O rings that keep the shifter in place and as difficult as it is to shove in there, once I got it in, the top O ring was just barely concealed (should I have pushed it in more?). The shifter seems to sit a little higher than I expected, and also all the installation instructions say you will probably have to bend the heat shield or lower it, I didn't have to do either, although I have an '03 and all the installs were written before '02. I thought possibly this wasn't a problem for the '03... Basically, do you think I should shove it in there more?

Also, I just installed the karboy bushings and surprisingly there is a big difference in shifting, definitely recommend getting them.

For the B&m short throw shifter you should bend the heat shield. nai8o5
said that he has problems shifting in his gears is becuase the heat shield actually hits the bottom of the shift under ther car. It will shift smoother once you bend the shield, also if you hear louder than usual noises when shifting, thats the shifter hitting the heat shield. I post this becuase I had this problem but then i fixed it. It does seem to stand up higher the expected but when you look at the original to the new one its a big difference and also you can pound through gears without worry of breaking ****.

Hi all, I have had the B&M in my P5 for nearly two years now.....and HOT weather is no problem....I Live in south texas...and believe me...it gets plenty hot here.

As for the install questions of nai8o5, the orings that are on the shifter are not there to keep it in place....more to seal out moisture and dirt....there was a SNAP RING you had to remove to pull out your stock shifter....did you put it back? you SHOULD have...and if your B&M is not pushed in far enough to replace the snapring...then its NOT down to its proper depth. and YES you will have to bend the heat shield.

okay, I think i will have to "re-install" the shifter and see if i can't fit the shifter to a lower depth, and bend the heat shield (which is what i wanted to avoid). And my shifter is not hitting the heat shield at all when shifting. As for the snap ring, lol, i may have tossed it (uhoh!) i was trying to fit it back in but because i didn't put the shifter LOW ENOUGH it didn't seem to fit back in, so i may have tossed it, oh well, it's so damn tight i don't see it being a problem, once i lower it, hopefully on wed. i'll let u know if there's a difference. thanks for the info
