Bummer. I called weapon r today and they said they are no longer making the coilovers for the protege. One of the guys at corksport suggested getting a honda coilover kit and modifying it. What do you think/know about this idea? If that is true heck I can buy the ractive ones for next to nothing.

I am gonna buy a set. I already e-mailed the guy about just getting a set. For that price I will risk it. Do you know anything about the arospeed ones though? Are they poo?

I'm pretty sure the struts are teh same diamter for both the first and second gens. I might be wrong tho. I installed the same springs bruce has (B+G extremes) on my car and the front springs were like 2" less diamter than my strut perch......so I wouldn't be surprised if 2nd gen struts were 2" less width than first gen struts (and springs).

BTW: it lowered my car like 1.75" NOT the 2.4" it says. BTW: in that pic of hte red and purple spring....the red is the B+G and the purple is the INtrax NOT the other way around

As for coilovers.. all 4 of the weapon-r's are the same diameter (which is the diamter of the rear struts). So if you put them in, your front struts might clunk when you turn b/c the coilovers might shift a little bit on the perches with the flex of the body.

Another thing is...since the make the coiloevers for 90-98 proteges, the spring rates are probably pretty stiff and not really custom-tailored to your car's chassis. This doesn't really matter a helluva lot, but i just thought i'd note that. (i know bruces car rode like *** when he slammed it 2.5" with the weaponr's).

But $155 shipped for arospeed coiloevers is a ******* awesome deal..........hell, you'd have a hard time getting that price on normal springs let alone coiloevers. I paid $117 plus 15 shipping for my Sprint 2" lowering springs (they are a bit lower than my old B+G's).

hoep this helped

Well good luck with the coils ,,, your ride will be bouncy though and the fit up and alighnment of the strut mounts and the springs will be far from perfect

Can't be any worse than my current setup which is stock struts that have 188,000 miles on them and cut springs with 2 inches of drop. I gotta fix it!!
