Thanks for the pic

:D

I need just to find the internal coil inside the distributor cap. Hondas have it right there, but I am afraid ours cars have it internally (surrounded by epoxi or plastic) so that you can not reach its connections (wires). I have the wiring diagram of the distributor. In order to install the MSD you need to connect two wires that goes in the + and - original primary coils respectively.
According to my HANBOOK, the wires are the black and red (-) and the white and red (+) located in the distrubutor eletrical connection (where you see 7 wires). If these wires go straight to my "supposed" primary coil and no elsewhere, I can have it installed perhaps, just connecting the wires in the distributor connection. Otherwise I dont know...:(

I am in Iowa City, Iowa... Long drive to Pensylvania (13 hours or so):(

Marcio, I'm originally from Logan, just north of Council Bluffs. Surprised to see another Iowan in here, but right on! I know in the Midwest you don't see alot of racers out there, just 'Stangs and Camaros.
Anyway, good luck with ur car!

Bruce95fmla March-26th-2002 05:59 PM

MSD timing retard/ MSD 6A

UFAAAAAAAAAA after 4 long hours, I had the MSD 6A and timing retard installed. It took so long because gen 2 1996 have the ignition coil inside the distributor and its conection is very small to run the wires. Anyway, if someone outhere is interested , I can give some help.

Positives: Idle is VERY nice, smooth. Car FEELS stronger (I am not saying any noticeable HP gains). Car starts VERY easily, great for winter (hopefully).

Negative: The computer timing from the MSD is not good for our cars (at least for mine). You step on the gas but it takes longer to respond, therefore I am not using its programed timing. I ran 3 degrees of timing retard when the nitrous is switched on. I thought I would be able to FEEL anything when the timing is retarded, but not. I wasn't able to feel anything when the system switched the timing retard. It might be because 3 degrees is not too much to feel any difference when driving????? I don't know. Someone outhere may know it though.

Anyways, at least is done and I am happy with the set up. Everything that comes to add something is always welcome
:D

ignition timing

Bruce too bad I did not take any pictures because I was running against time. I was afraid it was going to take too long and I ran out of light. But I have everything very clear on my head and can explain step by step to anyone else .

how is your ride going? Looks sweet Bro !:D
