I have those air horns in my protege also ,, they are crazy aren't they ,.. I think the next few mods that I want to do , will include a set of thick spoke 5 star 17" rims with bolts around the side and maybe a lip , for that 3 peace look .. but first will come the jspec bumper , and ACT clutch and hopefully the mazdaspeed shocks , I need shocks desperatley though , so I will have to put a rush on these, but I am still debating with myself over the price

jaymersh19 March-11th-2002 07:29 PM

Man! I really need to update my mods list at the bottom of my posts! Anyways...

-95 1.5 liter LX
-Arospeed filter with custom CAI piping
-Painted (honda blue) valve cover
-Zenon (blue) headlight bulbs
-20% window tint (all the way around)
-Aiwa CD head unit
-Two 6 1/2 inch Cerwin Vega VMag speakers, and two 6x9 inch Cerwin Vega pushed by a 200 watt Pioneer amp.
-Two Rockford Fosgate 12 inch HE2's (800w max a piece) pushed by Two JL audio 250w (underated) amps
-Putting in washer LED's tommorow
-Custom header on its way from Larsen Motor Sports
-Konig tantrums on the way as well (thinking about powder coating them gunmetal)
And I think that's it for now. I'm in the process of possibly getting a BPT and swapping that in. (I have to get more info on transmissions though)

So you have a 1995 pro , have you swaped out the front side clear indicator bulbs out in favor of some hyper white bulbs , this will make the indicators a lot brighter and give them that same hyper white look that your headlights have ,, here is a pic below ..
Bruce

Bruce95fmla March-12th-2002 04:00 AM

funny , I have found that if you put a red bulb in that orange side marker that we have in our front bumper you can actually make it turn red, wich is pretty cool .. I have had a blue bulb in there , but it was a lamish green color ...

I like the red better , I have also been looking on procarparts.com at the mx3 clear indicator lights , I am going to be trying a set to see if they fit on our cars, ..
Bruce
:D

Bruce95fmla March-12th-2002 12:02 PM

jaymersh19 March-12th-2002 07:04 PM

Oh, i forgot to tell you bruce, keep us updated on those clear marker lights, because i was just thinking about trying to make some custom ones today. (it would be easier if the MX-3 ones would fit though)

Bruce95fmla March-12th-2002 11:26 PM

sure no problem , when I pay of the struts and am purchasing the jspec bumper I will buy a set and see how they work out ,, my fog lights just came in the mail today also hehe
they are smaller than my current ,, but I am not complaining
thanks

im drivin a silver 1998 dx 1.5l with a 5 speed tranny. i have no real mods yet, although i have done a little stuff- removed resonator under air filter, painted valve cover red and installed matching hoses, shifter, and pedals. i dont have any money whatsoever, and im leanin towards sellin the pro in june when its paid off and gettin a 92 5.0 mustang. if i had the money then id start puttin stuff on my pro, but havin to pay $185/month in insurance doesnt help the whole money situation any.

Ok bro , first try not to use caps ,cause most people really don't like it , On the net it is seen as yelling .
As for springs, that lower close to 2.0 you have th BG extremes , wich will run you 220 dollars , these lower the 2nd gen protege approx. 2.0 to 2.3 inches , although i don't believe it . then you have the intrax springs wich lower the protege 1.8 inches and provide a decent drop and comfy ride ,. these can be attained through either www.corksport.com or www.summitracing.com or www.mazdamotosports.com .
as for 17" wheals there are plenty out there you can choose from , it is just a matter of personal opinion ,. mainly .
As for intakes , for the 1.5L there is the Ractive intake , wich is a nice intake that features a conical filter and a two peace pipping set, you can get this from www.toucanindustries.com

What I have been done ... (Bruce)

Well

working in the lab and eventually in my car...
I got the wheels installed (Helium Ultra light Konigs - 15") and lately working on the ignition system MSD 6A and timing retard. I am having troubles to find which wires in the distributor (we have 7 wires on there) is the actual coil + and actual coil -. As soon as I get this straight, I will have them working. I bought the mazda book, but it didn't give good explanation about the coils. In fact the book refer to "primary coil and secondary coil" what make things still worse. Old dilema... I was thinking about stop by at Mazda dealer and ask the technichian. He might be cool guy and give me help to find out the wires. Several sites show how to proceed the installation on preludes (just three wires [+, - and tach]) but proteges, as usual, has to make things more complicated (7 wires !)

well, overall, yes, I am here in this group, which seems to be a lot bigger than the egroup.

Bruce95fmla March-20th-2002 08:18 PM

oh yeah it is big indeed , over a thousand members, I am sorry I did not get to scan those pics for you man , I am not f ealing well ,. I feal very weak have a feaver, and I think I have the chicken pox or some shit , cause there are a bunch of little pesky bumps on my back and shit ,.. I will have to make an appointment with my doctor tomorrow (thank god for health coverage) ..
Man i wish you could be at carlisle , it would be soo cool ,..

My wife, every time I got sick, makes me drink a lot of tea! Put you GF to give you tea LOL !!

Anyways, dont worry about the scaning thing, I guess I find the coil (high voltage one).

What about Carlislie (is that right??? ) ? Is it going to be a meeting over there????? Tell me about it. If its not too far away, I might show up.

distributor - ignition coil

Man... To find a easy ignition coil in ours distributors (pro 96) is a hell. "man on a mission...

I am not sure yet if I can put my hands on one yet. If not, I will be seeling my MSD 6A and timing retard soon.

Thanks for the pic

:D

I need just to find the internal coil inside the distributor cap. Hondas have it right there, but I am afraid ours cars have it internally (surrounded by epoxi or plastic) so that you can not reach its connections (wires). I have the wiring diagram of the distributor. In order to install the MSD you need to connect two wires that goes in the + and - original primary coils respectively.
According to my HANBOOK, the wires are the black and red (-) and the white and red (+) located in the distrubutor eletrical connection (where you see 7 wires). If these wires go straight to my "supposed" primary coil and no elsewhere, I can have it installed perhaps, just connecting the wires in the distributor connection. Otherwise I dont know...:(

I am in Iowa City, Iowa... Long drive to Pensylvania (13 hours or so):(
