First, do you have a car? You don't mention what you have. DX, LX, ES what?
Second Transmission auto or manual? Be more specific |
sorry, ive got a 97' pro lx, standard

I have a 95 1.8 DOHC and I usually try to keep it at 2000-2500 RPM when I take off so it won't die or hesitate. nearing 5-6,000 rpm (7 begins redline tach ends on 8) I go to second and try to keep it like that all the way down. If I see the opponent getting away I go a little higher (6,500 rpm). Try practicing "quick shifting" I don't mean not using the clutch (which some people do and is not healthy for the car) I mean putting the clutch in and taking it out in 1.5 seconds meanwhile you just finished throwing the gear. Most important of all KEEP YOUR COOL (concentrate)

new clutch for better takeoff.

better tires...
limited slip differential.... light weight flywheel..... motor mounts.... and any performance part that doesent decrease low end torque... |
yo pollito,
you rev your engine that high? i would love to do that when i raced but i'm afraid my little 1.5 will break. Damn man! ________ Live Sex |
:D

our redline is 6500 rpm on the 1.5's man, the 1.5's could take it
i do it all day every day lol.... |
you serious!!?!! so you are saying that i could technically rev my baby up to 6 rpm every time i drive, without putting the engine in significant danger to blow or something?

What?????:rofl::rofl::rofl:
I have a Automatic Mitsu Mirage 97 1.5. And since it was new, I used to rev it all the time....every single day. I even did lots of Neutral-Drive drops reving the engine. Transmission never broken....still running around, my wife is still using it. Engine not smoking, not a bit, 90,000+ miles on it. Parts broken?: none, only engine mounts of course, but thats because of the N-D drops. Parts heavily weared? yes, the usual stuff, no big deal.... |
make sure theres oil....
and its at operating temperature.... and u could rev it up to 6500 rpm and not break anything now, if all you do is drive at 6500rpm all day, things are gonna wear out faster but i mean, u have to rev it that high when u race, or ur not going anywhere never rev it past 6500, i did a couple times by accident, but thats not good for the car at all i drive pretty agressively on the street, i got no problem revving it that high just make sure the cars running properly before u beat on it but as with any car, agressive driving will take a toll on it in the long run... (if u shift at 3500 rpm every time, the motor will last longer, but it was made to go to 6500 safely, thats the purpose of the red line) |
well what if you put in a higher grade oil, say 10w-40 instead of 10w30, that would allow me to rev the engine higher with less wear on it, right? cause thats what i have in my car now. also you could just change the oil more often for greater protection, if your one of those who likes to rev high.

WHAT?? my 97 redlines at 7000, and I've had it up to 7500 before, mind you that wasn't on purpose, but I've done it several times with no ill effects.
