Question What can I add?

So, I have my '90 4WD, 5-spd Pro, but it just doesn't have the power I want. It comes with the stock 103hp, and my car is pretty much stock at this point with almost 90k miles on it and although I love being able to get around anywhere with that car (I have stories, if any want to hear) I want/need more power! What can I do or add to my car to improve it's performance and horsepower by myself? I'm not the greatest mechanic, I will admit, but I can get around and learn.
I've tried reading just about anything I can about the GTX conversions from this forum, but if I were to do that, it would seem that would be a ways off, not to mention quite a few several hundred bucks away. Is it worth improving my car? Or just sell it to someone who wants it and look at a better car?
Any comments or suggestions are welcome... Thanks, all!

Is it just me, or are a lot of AWD pros popping up lately?

Anyways...I'm assuming it's SOHC since you said 103hp (I thought AWD's were all DOHC, :shrug. SOHC doesn't have very many options unfortunately. You could check with Braden on getting an SOHC turbo manifold, or have one custom made at a local shop and go turbo.

Well, I'm sure glad we have some comedians out there, or else where'd we get the laughs? Gee, I never knew a sticker could add so much horsepower.... (sarcasm).
Yes, it's a SOHC... the Protege 4WD's only came as a SOHC, 1.8L engine. Is there not a DOHC engine that I can swap out of another car, such as the DX or LX that can be put easily into mine?
~Thanks, all.

I don't think it is, especially when I can run my 4WD in 1/2 foot + deep snow as if running on pavement plus the best traction I've seen in a car.
I'll have to look into a bp DOHC motor then from a LX Pro of the same year.... ANyone have stats on those? And then possibly whtat I'd need to do the swap, etc?

And bolt on a lime green valve cover instead of a turbo. Same thing.
