shifter ****

Hey i have this problem with my shifter ****, it rattles, especially right after i shift into a gear (when the rpm is low). If i hold it it is ok, it's not the **** but it is the stick, and i think it rattles against the side/wall (not sure what it is called). How would i go about fixing theis w/o buying a new one (plan on it but not yet) is there a way to tighten up my stick so theres not as much free play and free room to shake?
thanks all
ryan

It's becuase the transmission vibrates. There is nothing you can do about it except deal with it. The vehicle vibrates so the shifter vibrates.

the rattling is comming from the bushings under the car. go to mazda and get replacement bushings for the shifter lever
