Picking 1st gen locks , it was that figin easy.... WARNING....

Well I was working on the 323 today trying to get the fender straightened out and I had to put the key in the ignition to turn the stearing wheel. So anyway once I am done , I get out lock the doors , go upstairs and empty my pockets... out goes house keys, out goes protege keys... wait where's the 323 keys.. ohhh **** you can't be serious....
Anyway I get downstairs and there they are.
so, I am looking and thinking how the hell am I gonna get these keys..
Can't bust the glass, cause that's another 45 bucks ...

so I get a hanger and bend it , insert it in the door , turn it towards the lock **** and jab up at it ...
sure enough bloom it flies up and the door opens ..

I mean shoot is it that easy to get into a 323 or protege 1st gen ...
guys beware ..
Bruce

Wink

Now you see why I hate thieves who smash glass, or in the case of my camry, drill the locks, and they didn't even get in! dumbfucks. I can get into your car in about 5 seconds... some cars might be harder though... My mom's volvo was... but yeah I figured this all out when I locked my keys in once

I picked the locks on my friend's pontiac lemans one time, that worked out pretty well. Never tried it on my 323 or protege, never hope to!

i have 6 spare keys in house because my mom locks it pretty often. once she locked in the town, called a taxi driver for help, 4 taxi drivers and one mechanic didnt succed in gettin in my 1st gen pro so i had to take a hike from school (which didnt bother ) to the house to pick up the key and to the town to unlock it.

what's the sense of spare keys, Just have a hanger straped in a plastic bag under the car somewhere , lol ....

But seriously , I had locked my keys in my protege one time and when the tow guy came to try and open my door , he had a slim jim thingy and he was like how it may not work due to the car being a 95+ car and what not....
Well he tried to get it to work and it did not work ... He had to pry my A-pillar open and then open it from there.
I was just surprised, yet happy how easy it was .. Ofcourse the 323 does not have an alarm , and maybe won't even get one ,, sike; it will.

I also found out where the guy lived so I should of dropped by for a little visite whe I had the chance cuz now its too late, he probably sold all my stuuf a long time ago...

you have no idea how many times i've used this trick.. mostly because sometimes i'm stupid. to this date, i've locked my keys in my car 6 times... never needed a locksmith, spare key... or anything besides a coat hanger
peace

Damn , I was really wondering if a lot of 1st gen guys had this problem,, I think the 2nd gens use a different style to pop up the door lock , so it would be a bit harder to get in them ..

Yeah I learned this when I locked my keys in my car...twice.

Bruce...with your alarm, make sure you get an external power device for it. I don't know about 2nd gens, but I can get under the hood and pull the battery cable on a 1st gen if you give me a screwdrive and a few seconds.

So in combination with the slim-jim problem...proteges are a 2 minute theft job.

by the way...I know that from doing it to my own car, not from breaking into peoples cars

removed my hood release lever and needed to get under hood...
