My sister's POS Pro.. UPDATE! Must read!!

Is overheating. I haven't been able to look the car over, but I suspect the fan and/or relay has crapped out. Where is the fan relay on a '94 sohc located??

kcbhiw October-14th-2002 01:17 PM

The cooling fan?...uh..right behind the radiator where it is on almost every other car.

Bill October-14th-2002 01:28 PM

Uhhhh, re read my initial post. I am looking for the fan RELAY, not the fan.

Bill October-14th-2002 02:22 PM

Bill October-14th-2002 03:32 PM

Hey just kidding, sorry, didn't mean to flame!!

Bill October-14th-2002 03:33 PM

About that location for the fan relay......???

UCSBgeek October-14th-2002 04:33 PM

I think it's on the drivers side, under the wheel down there somewhere. Of course this stupid chilton's manual isn't specific enough to tell me exactly where it is, it has to cover every model of mazda made over a range of 400 years

bah..i didn't take it as a flame, i'm the one to blame with my original smart ass comment, lol. i totally missed "relay" and couldn't figure out how someone didn't know where the fan is.

Since the 91-96 Ford Escort is essentially the same as the 90-94 protege, I can only assume that the placement of such components is going to be similar. I have included a cut from the EVTM manual for my 96 Ford Escort. Look in the bottom right corner on the side. You will find a pointer for the fan switch.

EDIT: I don't know why it keeps displaying so small...look hard in the lower right, you'll see a bit of red text, that's your relay.

HTH

BWhahahaha-- "ASSHAT" never heard that one before!

Funky Buddha October-18th-2002 10:04 AM

Maybe your radiator's leaking, check antifreeze level, and see if the fan runs.

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE!!!

Sis calls today, "I got the car fixed". So what was the problem?? She says "I don't know". (I'm like WTF??)
Turns out, her husband took her to work on the pretense of taking the car to a friend who can fix it, and hauls ass down to the (gasp!!) Mitsu dealer, and buys her a new Lancer. She comes home later and asks about the POS, and he says it 's in the garage. She goes out and there's this new car w/ balloons and a bigass heart on it. Cool, huh???

Bill October-20th-2002 08:55 AM

UPDATE!! Sister's POS Protege.

(short version) Her husband sold it. See other "POS" thread for details.

There it is... If you don't believe that, go to page 1

Bill October-20th-2002 09:59 PM

Dude, look at the FIRST post. The original post. Don't be stubborn!!!!!!! LOL!!!!!!

Bill October-20th-2002 10:02 PM

No problem, I guess it's the way that the post is located in the "block", It must be easy to overlook the word 'relay'.

Bill October-20th-2002 10:14 PM

Yeah, no sh**t, where the hell IS the relay?!?!?

Bill October-21st-2002 08:23 AM

Mike, thanks for the info, I'm going to have to get the manual.
Don't worry about the fan relay argument, it's really no big deal, everyone overlooks something sometime!!:D
