Smile most important first mod?...

Hey.... i've been really gettin into my car lately and this site is gettin me even more motivated. But before I get ahead of myself can anybody tell me the most important first mod for basically street racing type driving from every stop light and sign?.... I've heard cold-air intake would be best... any help would be great.... not really looking for anything specific... hp gains are always good though but if it just helps my car last longer and run better i'll be just as happy.. thanks

a good first mod, if this is your priority, would be to trade in your protege for a faster car

but if your poor and can't get a better car ( i.e.--the guy who posted above me)

then get you an intake tube for a honda and some electrical tape and an adaptor for a cone filter @ ebay for a start --but after you get your first mod do not race everyone you see because you have an intake--you'll just **** up your ride--wait until you have the parts that can handle treatment like drag----

Turbocharger.... that was my first mod. Well along with the other things to make it safe to run turbo. And don't worry about saving up for internals, the stock internals have been known to be good up to about 400 hp.

air intake is eh, general, do whatever you can to open up the flow to your throttle body. then open your exhaust up from your catalytic converter back to say... 2.5 inch in diameter, fully mandrel bent exhaust, intake and exhaust cams, then highflow exhaust header and high-flow cat... just some ideas, good luck
peace

Track time is great too. I don't have mods to really speak of (some decent tires, good brakes), and I just like having learned a lot about driving skills....and look at my car, it's a base model automatic...slow as hell!

2.5 inch exhaust is too big for our cars. Go with 2 inch or 2 1/4 max.
