If you have the 8-valve sohc, no.
If you have the 16-valve sohc, yes, you can put on a escort dohc head on your block. bear in mind, you will need to get a number of additional parts. This includes an ecu from any of the 1st gen (I'm assuming you're asking this about the 1st gens) lx pros (the ones that actually had the dohc engine). Otherwise, you won't reap any of the benifits from the dohc head (not to mention that you probably couldn't get it to run). You will need a new wiring harness to go along with that new ecu, too. This is a project I'm facing myself. This kind of project is not for the faint at heart.

ooops. Sorry. You'll have to forgive me. I guess I read that too fast. That and I'm not in the best state of mind as I just came back from finishing a stats final that sucked royal ***.

Must... Go... and sleep.
