gen1gt and myself are shooting for similar things, with similar times, myself i am at a 15.8 @ 89.7. my car as with gen1gt is my daily driver. it starts every day, gets 34.8 mpg hwy, 31 cty, and i autocross it once or twice a month. my car should be in the low fifteens when i put my new engine in around thanksgiving, with my new clutch, and im getting a new suspension set up. and this car will continue to be my daily driver. fifteens isnt fast, its quick, but when we are the two fastest n/a firstgens it is something to be proud of. my blood, sweat and hard earned money are in my car, and will continue to be put into it. until you understand the joys and challenges of getting power out of this car steve-o dont insult someones work

:-), If you get my motor in im sure you will pull low 15's

Liquid_Ag October-3rd-2004 12:05 AM

you know im getting it :) 410 dollars. 40 more!

Gen1GT October-6th-2004 06:52 AM

Hey, what mods have you done to pull off a 15.8@89.7? My best trap speed so far has been 86.6. Higher trap speed is a sign of more power, lower ETs mean the car is light and is hooking up.

What engine are you putting in your car, and what are the mods?

Liquid_Ag October-10th-2004 05:12 PM

we arent sure what the engine has done to it, but my lowest trap speed ever has been a 88, and that was with just the pace setter exhaust. it is impossible for me to take off, lately because of my shitty clutch, but on the track by me its so slick, if i dont launch correctly i spin through 3rd...its shitty...plus the pacesetter header, the pacesetter exhaust, and brocks intake are all set up for high end...i dont have any power bellow 4k rpm *shrug*

My 323 is probably running mid 14's but its not a protege tho.

There's only one way to find out dude. Take it to the track. Also, your car isn't all-motor anymore.....

I have a 92 escort GT. same thing as your protege just has a ford badge on it.
I ran a 12.63@112mph. spinning the tires in 3rd gear. stock GTX engine with a hybrid VJ20/T3 turbo. running 19psi only because if i ran any more i would have just spun all the way down the track. running on 22in tall slicks.
this is one of my slips the next run i ran a 12.63.

Engine management? Dyno sheets? pics? What are you using for fuel upgrades? . Sorry i have alot of questions

Gen1GT October-11th-2004 10:05 PM

Same thing as a Protege? Them's fightin words! Ya, the chassis and engine are SIMILAR, but it stops there. One is more balanced, well-built and handsome, the other is a flimsy boy-racer with Play Skool interior trim.

A stock GTX engine, turbo upgrade, NA 1.8L head, 550cc injectors, APEXi SAFC. No dynos for me the drag strip works just fine for my tuning needs.

Liquid_Ag October-12th-2004 03:14 PM

how did you overcome the closed loop lock out our ecu imposes at WOT with the safc? not picking, just curious, because i would like to run one myself

CorkSport.com October-12th-2004 06:19 PM

I never had any problem with it. Might have been because i was using a GTX ECU.

Gen1GT October-12th-2004 06:35 PM

Our ECUs aren't completely open loop like everyone thinks. AFM and hotwire outputs change ignition and fuel maps. Which is why one can tune by adjusting flapper door tension.
