Thumbs up $1,500 to spend stupid idea ???

i have a 91 323 which dont come w/ A/C. and where i live summer time could reach up to 100 degree. I didn't have a/c last summer and it really sucked! anyhow i want my car pretty quick and i dont want a/c becuz im going to loose a lil hp. But basically im gonna need to have one since i hate summer. Should i spend my $1500 for a brand new after market a/c that cost $1450? or performance? just suffer w/ the UV . wut u guys think?

you've always got the windows to put down, so leave it at that and work on the motor i guess.

I agree...if you're serious about performance this shouldn't even been a question

ok i saw this cam shaft at .........Cork Sport. peformance camshaft set
The Cork Sport performance cam set are brand new camshafts not regrinds. The specs are .352 lift and 205 duration at .050 lift for both intake and exhaust. The estimated gains on a mildy modified motor are 12 hp.
this is for my n/a bp engine is this a good kind? is there anything out there beside cork sport?
this cost $425 pair

You have to weigh out your priorities. Do you want a faster/better looking vehicle that you sweat your ***** in or do you prefer to be 'cool' before everything else. I personally would never dish out $1,500 for the AC. As long as the windows can go down I'm good to go.

I say spend it on performance, that way you can go faster with the windows down and get more air to cool you off. Just drive 80 everywhere.

I thought you liven in CA. I know it can get hot there but when I was there the humidity was real low and your hot with low humidity compared to TX warm with our stinking High humidity was better, It can be like a freakin sauna here sometimes.

I say go fast! - and paint your car white

I know what I'd do if I had $1500.... Trade in for a second-gen RX-7.
I figure I should get at least 2000 for the Pro.

I wouldnt have my pro right now if it werent for a/c, i remember the day i bought it, i just got off work, it was aroun 95 degrees, i was lookin for a car that looked comfortable with working a/c, (my mom suggested a civic at the time) but right there was a 92 pro, that looked a lil chipped up, but still in great runnin order... so i take it around the block, let it warm up... soon as i turn on the a/c, the whole car seemed soo cold....i seriously dont know where i would be if it werent for a/c in my cute lil pro....

Oh most of the people here don't know the torture of 100% humidity on a hot day in D.C. (lived on east coast a lot longer than I have here)

here's how i came up with $1500 for the a/c. I called the mazda dealer cuz i want it to look stock not aftermarket. Anyways they (dealer) told me that they dont make em for my car anymore since my 323 is 12 yrs old they said im better off puting an aftermarket a/c. So icalled around and all the shop that i've talked to told me that it'll cost me from $1300-$1600 i was like dAmN !!! for a frickin a/c! thats how i came up w/ that #'s.

i was planning on buying another 323 w/ a/c and should be white and has a good body (never been to accident) cuz the 323 that i have rite now is in very good condition i couldn't let it go the old owner took good care of it. But then again IF ANYONE IN HERE OWNES A 91 323 HATCH STOCK IN GOOD BODY CONDITION W/ A/C SHOULD BE WHITE. IM WILLING TO BUY IT . GIVE ME UR PRICE AND SEND ME A PIC!

get a turbo then put ac in. U wont care about the 1hp loss. I understand about ac sometimes u get to traffic jams on those 100 degree days and your windows just dont cut it ...Jon
