Question suspension question??

Hi

I'd like to know if I have to modify the suspension of my Protege SE '91 if I want to put 205/45/R16 or 205/40/R17 wheels on it?

Thanx!

No, you don't have to modify your suspension, but many people would think that your car looks funny with wheels that big at stock height.

It is a good idea to make sure you have good shocks when going with a larger (and heavier) tire & wheel package.

I've had both those sizes + more and they all fit fine, providing the wheel is 7" wide and the offset does not excced 38mm. I have wheels w/35mm offset and had some rear fender rubbing under load and with passengers.
