BlueLedz cut his springs. His ride looks nice and seems to handle well. Of course, I don't dare get in his car for a couple of reasons: He drives poorly, he has no passenger seat (too much stereo stuff), and he has so much boom from his stereo - it knocks my hairs off my head!

cut mine on my 323 and i have no problems...except for minor wheel rubbing. that type of stuff will happen when you have 17's on an small car :)
|
the dude hasn't even cut my springs yet.....he never showed that night...but we tried and we could not get the front strut bolts off for shit...so now we are supossed to be using his friends shop in the next couple of days to get to an impact wrench.....
but i got 17's just put on yesterday......if i drop it..... there will be wheel rubbing???.......is this normal??? won't it bald my (expensive, cash paid) bran new tires...... laTeR |

How much do you plan to cut them? If you cut them in half they'll rub for sure;) |
true. if cut in half, you might as well go buy some new springs cause youll be draggin your gas tank on the ground.
i cut one coil off of each spring (front and rear). i also left the struts on the car. it was just too much work to pull them off for five mins worth of cutting. as far as the scrubbing goes, ive got 17's with 215/45/17 Toyo Proxes. the sides all have scrapes from rubbing on the fender lips. and this is even after rolling them. if your going to lower it, roll the lips, and use 205/40/17 tires. this should help prevent MOST scrubbing. hope that helps some. :) |

my thoughts exactly, when getting wheels and tires, you must consider all the aspects. And it's usually the offset that causes tire rub.
|
well, it could also be the fact that i dropped it 3 1/2" and im running huge tires (215/45/17). if i had smaller tires, i dont think i would have that much of a problem.

it could also be the fact that my car is lowered more than most. 3" to be exact.
if i went with a more positive offset wheel, the back would smack the strut, and if i went with a more negative offset wheel, the front would smack the fender lip. sounds like i got the right wheels, but lowered it too much. oh well, cant complain. i get looks everywhere i go.... |
ok......i am happy that we couldn't get the strut bolts off......my tires are 205 40 17
anyway i decided just to wait for the sprint ones and with my tax return money i bought some....and still have $$ left over......but the dude is just going to cut the sprint ones --he said 1 coil will work.....thanks for all the replys..really helped.... lAteR |
