Caliper Pins?!?!
 

well ive gotten to the point of finnally replacing my brakes. Original Pads being on my car from 94' and having 116k on them. Pretty good for factory pads and shoes.

The shoes in rear have been replaced, they were pretty worn if u ask me hardly any left. Now i went to replace front Pads and the Caliper pins were siezed. Sincei work at a Mazda Dealer ship the techs told me that its a common problem for the 1st gens to do this. i was like WTF. 9 year old car needing caliper pins. Everyone else ive talked to have never replaced them. But my tech said if i dont replace them they will keep wearing to the inside pad quicker then the outside pad. im kinda fishy, but isnt there away to get outta gettin new pins?!?! I mean my brakes in front have to be replaced ASAP, they are rubbing and squeeling pretty bad. But i dont know. I got all brakes front and rear for $68 and then the caliper pins for all 4 are another $48..... i guess i should jus get the pins and not worry bout em...

Caliper pins seizing on a 9 year old car isn't really uncommon in my experience. I've seen it happen to cars that are less than half that old. What I did when I encountered that is get the pin out, clean the shit out of the pins on a wire wheel, and then hook up an air drill, any put this thing on, its like a small cylindrical wire brush, I'd get one that was slightly larger than the hole or about the same size, and run that through the hole for a minute or two, and clean up the corrosion in there, lube the shit out of the pins and put it back together. If it was really bad I'd even clean up the threads with a tap and die. It sounds alot harder than it is. That whole part takes no more than 10 minutes. I never had a come back after doing that probably dozens of times. If you really don't want to get those new pins then that is my suggestion.

Well problem solved, it does need caliper pins, but i u can be able to loosen up the seized calipers so they can freely move back and forth on rotor if u take some time and effort. Basically i need new rotors and pins later my rotors are un evenly worn.
